Please Help... Resort question

We were at the World last week and were able to book a bounceback offer for next year with the free dining.
We booked the Animal Kingdom Lodge, here's my issue we can do a week at AKL with Savannah view, or 2 weeks at the Caribbean beach or Port Orleans. What would you do?

AKL is super nice but if I had the option to double my length of stay from one to two weeks I think I would have to go with the longer stay. I would pick PORS or FQ over CBR any day. Quite honestly I would rather stay at a value over CBR. The resort is simply too spread out, the bus stops have always seemed to be in inconvenient locations and go forbid if you have to go to the food court if your room is not located right next to it. PORS and FQ on the other hand have a much better layout and IMHO better theming and restaurants. They also have water access to DTD which is a big plus. PORS also has Yee Haw Bob which pretty much trumps everything.:D

I love AKL, it's my favorite, but if staying at a mod means making my vacation twice as long with free eats? I'll just book a LOT of those extra meals @ Boma & Jiko. :)

You should see if you can do a week at each mod, or maybe a week @ mod followed by 3 or 4 nights @ AKL.

Good idea but the package deals make changing resorts a nightmare if not impossible.

IMHO Port Orleans is the better of the two moderates you mentioned. I would personally choose two weeks of vacation in any moderate over one week at the AKL. A second week of park hopping is a good trade off for missing a quick view outside of your window each morning.

Thank you guys... that is what I was thinking too. Because for some reason this past week just flew by faster then normal so I thought 2wks would be great. Another question, Why do they only have a max of a 10 day park hopper ticket? If you wanted to purchase 2 extra days, it costs almost as much as the 10 day ticket.

After 10 days you are much better served getting and AP. Another option would be to get the 10 day ticket with the water park option added on and spend a few days at the water parks and/or Disney Quest.

EDIT: If you plan it right you can do 2 years worth of trips on one AP.

Probably to offer incentive for you to buy an AP. But be forewarned, APs have a curious little property to them that makes you want to go as often as possible...I should know, I have one in my wallet right now and I recently moved my Spring Break trip up until Christmas!

How much is an AP and will that allow you to park hop and go to the water park or do you have to add that to the AP

Adult pricing for AP, for 2008, non-Florida resident looks like

Regular AP $499.49
Premium AP $637.94

Premium includes the water parks.
All AP's allow park hopping.

Check official prices on the Disney World web site.

Good luck.

We were offerd an upgrade to AKL from CRB a few years ago when CBR's food court was being redone. We only had to pay $10 a day more. As much as we loved looking out and seeing all the anilmals and the "feel" of AKL, we found CBR to be more enjoyable in the long run. One thing we noticed, and we always get a car at DW, is that the walk form parking to the room is much closer at CBR. At AKL, we parked, walked in the lobby, down the hall, in an elavator, down a hall, turn, down a hall, etc. to get to the room. After a full day at the parks, this walked seemed like 100 miles. And 2 weeks beats 1 week all the time.

Thats what I was thinking, as much as I would love to wake up and see the animals off my balcony, I would rather have more time. We just got back on the 20th from a week at CBR and it just flew. We stayed in a half a day at the resort to swim in the new pool, and I felt jipped. I felt like I was missing something. If we stayed two weeks, we have a 10 day ticket, and we could swim in the pool and not feel quilty. We could even go to Universal or something on an off day. So that is why I feel that I should change it to stay for the two weeks.

Stay two weeks. I prefer POFQ.

Can you get the dining for free if you switch? Just curious.

I'd go with the 10-day hopper and use the extra days to relax at the pool and hit DTD or add Water Parks and More and use the water parks for those extra days. You can do Sea World, Universal or other area attractions, but that requires a car or taxis.

I wouldn't even think twice on this one... Go for the longer stay at POR or FQ. They are the best the moderate resorts have to offer. I would do anything to spend 2 whole weeks at the world. I always feel like I have had enough after just one week...but really I'd rather be in WDW, than be at work...in the "real world." In two weeks you can really do a lot of things and see everything...and do things you never knew about. You can take your time with everything, who cares about crowds when you have more time at the world.

Let us know what you decide!
