So now I've rearranged my plans just a bit so that we'll be arriving early on Friday, September 14th. This left me with the option of doing a nice sit-down dinner, which I think after 2 days on the road, will be kind of nice. So my first thought was to check (and then hold out) for dinner at California Grill. Right now, there's only a 9:30 open for that night, and I'm hoping for before 7:00. So yeah, if we went with CG, we'd be holding out.

The other options are to do Citrico's, which I've done before (but I'm the only one in my group who has), Jiko (which none of us have ever done before), or Grand Floridian Cafe, which we've all done and loved.

So, what would you do? Hold out, or book one of the above, and if so, which one? Thanks :)

Have you been to Cali Grill before? If you have, then maybe try something you've never done before. And if Jiko was enjoyable for you, I'd do it again for everyone else; then you can be the 'expert' and tell them all about it since you've done it before. =)

On that list the only place we have been is Jiko and it was amazing! You might want to check what time Wishes is the night because you might be able to watch from CG.
Personally, I would keep CG (we've been wanting to try it) and keep trying to get a better time.

I have eaten at CG, Citricos and Jiko. My fav out of those is Citricos, but the others are close behind.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

We're actually not staying at the Contemporary--I just would love to go back one more time before the Cali Grill refurb. We'll be at POFQ, but we'll have a car, so no problem with transportation.

Mostly, we're looking for a relaxing place where we can unwind from the car ride before hitting the parks the next day.

I loved Cali Grill in May and I've never tried any of those other places. I'd book something you can get now and then if something opens for CG, grab it. I hear that a lot of the CC guarantee places will have sports open up the closer it gets to the date (people cancelling to avoid the no-show/chancel charge)

You're taking a big chance by holding out. If the restaurant is full, even if it's only full in theory due to reservations that were previously made, they won't even let you on the elevator to head up to the lounge. If it's definitely where you would like to eat that night, just go ahead and make those reservations. You can always keep checking back for better times. In the meantime, you would at least have something guaranteed.

In other suggestions, I would take Jiko over California Grill nine times out of ten.

I would say at this point due to it being so hard to get ADR's, you might want to grab the 1st one you can get and then just keep checking for others. I think with it being FREE dining around that time the ADR's are filled up.
