Planet Hollywood - Who can confirm Rumor?

DTD eateries and stores are always jam packed. I think some people's hate for PI closing makes them think people only went to DTD to get drunk and party the night away.

Or pixie dust messes with fanbois' minds... WoD is always packed, and the rest of the Marketplace does quite well. But while the restaurants at the former PI and West Side can sometimes get busy Friday/Saturday (nights guests come in and don't have a ticket for a park), but tend to be dead the rest of the week. Even on weekends, you can pretty much walk up and be seated instantly at any DTD restaurant that doesn't feature robot animals. Raglan Road didn't cut their schedule back 3 hours because they were slammed with business.

We just booked a trip and part of the package was a Planet Hollywood meal voucher and souvenir coupon. Our trip is next Thanksgiving so it would seem to me anyway that they plan on keeping it open at least that long.

My apologizes. I generally assume that everyone knows MP is busy. Yes, it does quite well, it works, and I have no problem with MP.

The point I was getting at is exactly what Jason pointed out. Perhaps I can take pictures the next time I'm there and point out what I mean.

I don't know last time I was in Disney the only decent sit down meal I had was at Planet Hollywood, the decor is getting a bit dated but the food was good. So I'd be sad if I saw Planet Hollywood close.

Where else did you eat? It is sad if this was your best meal. There are so many excellent places to eat at WDW I'm surprised anyone would say this.

All the usual places I always ate before the dining program came about, Mama Melrose, Crystal Palace, so on, best meal of the week Disney Dining has gone down the tubes with rude wait staff and poor quality food since the DDP.

We always eat at least one meal at PH and like it. Best Meal? Not usually but always good enough to return. Also usually one of the most reasonable meals in pricing (I know that's relative). Colorful, casual, and decent food. What's with all the nasty comments?

I agree with this. My experiences with Disney Restaurants have deteriorated. I don't use the DDP and end up with much higher prices as well. We still go, but everyone agrees that at some point the jacked up prices and deteriorating food will nudge us out of the restaurants. So far we still like to visit at least one sit down place per day, but it's just not the same.

crystal palace doesn't exactly have a reputation for being good food. people pay for the location and experience, that's it.

Trail's end is excellent, Jiko's, Boma, Narcooses, and the california grill are all great places to eat. The wave is also very good too. The only places inside the parks that are good to eat are some of the ones at EPCOT. Otherwise, the resorts provide the best food.

I personally like PH food, but that place needs to be updated really bad.

The restaurant is not closing. One of their t-shirt/souvenir stores is closing.

I am kind of dissappointed. I ate there once and found the food to be of a lesser quality than the price would indicate. The atmosphere was nothing exceptional that wasn't similarly available at other such entertainment restaurant venues in the area. Oh well......

I do question the brands committment to its restaurant business as a stand alone enitity. When you go to planethollywood.com, you are immediately taken to their Casino and not to the restauarants. If you are interested in those establishments you must locate the tiny little text link at the bottom of the page. From a marketing standpoint, this indicates their future may not be long lived.

Not really nasty comments, just that I don't enjoy the place.

I lot of it has to do with my personal tastes.

The times I have been there it has been loud, understaffed, and the interior decor really does nothing for me. The food was OK, but no better than Rainforest/Fridays/Chilis/OTB/Ruby Tuesdays or any other chain of that sort. Not good enough to make up for the disappoint with the other aspects of the place.
