You obviously don't bother to read other posts...there are no obvious ones. I've even had people ask me, what is WDW? Simply put, don't shortcut your posts at everyone else's expense. Especially if you want readers to read or understand what you wrote...unless it's really not important.
Now if you are going to refer to Rock and Roller Coaster (RaRC) several times and clearly assign an anachronism to your first reference in the post then at least a reader can figure it out within the post. Or if the whole discussion is about Downtown Disney (DD), then sure feel free, but to simply throw an anachronism out in the middle of a thought, like HISTK or BTM, or IASW, or TTBAB or WOD (I'm sure you know them all), ruins what might have been an important point (if we only knew what was being referred to).

I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ here, but do you mean "assign an acronym?"

To quote you

"Personally when I see a post filled with acronyms I skip it instead of struggling to read it...So if you want me to read/consider your post, leave out the acronyms.
Sure there are some obvious ones that I would think nobody needs to think about to figure out, like WDW, or my favorite, MiLF (Monsters Incorporated Laugh Factory)"

On one hand you state that you hate posts filled with acronyms, and that we should leave out acronyms.

Then you say there are obvious ones, and you even have a favorite.

So what is it, should we leave them all out, or should be only use the ones that you deem are obvious and your favorite.

Or should perhaps we continue to use them, and be aware in the knowledge that most of the people on this site know what they are and translate them "on the fly" and if we don't know we either check the list or ask.

Oh, and just for your info, an anachronism is a reference to something that is clearly out of its correct time period. Such as an abacus in a computer lab. Or maybe anachronism is just an acronym for something that I am not aware of.

Forgive me if I happen to use many acronyms. The industry I work in happened to invent the concept, and we still write and speak in them to this day.

it includes ideas from schussler creative.

Thats one interesting fellow with a lot of concepts 7 listed in this article...http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/stories/2007/10/01/daily25.html

Now just drawing my own conclusions here, it seems that there are also 7 empty night clubs left on Pleasure Island. Of course that would be a lot of food in one place, but then again, there never seems to be a lack of demand for restaurant seating at Dowtown Disney. BUt I would think realistically, the area could support 3 or 4 of these concepts and their retail counter parts. Plus if you pick the right ones, you return a nightlife feel to the area without attracting some of the bad atmosphere that was present before the closure of the clubs.

interesting.......

Well, that makes sense for PH and DtD. PH doesn't have to cover additional overhead with the store, and DtD has another opportunity to bring a new retailer in.....

But have you seen what DtD has brought in lately? No idea what used to be in it, but the store around the corner from little mis matched was quite obviously thrown up to fill space. At least a month ago it was. A random smattering of generic Disney merch, and no decor at all. Really screamed "fill the empty store front with anything" to me. (Coming from PI to West Side, turn left just before little mis matched to find the store I mean)

I understand, and don't disagree. But let's face it, the space PH is leaving behind would be easier to fill at DtD than something the size of the old Virgin Records store. And on the flip side, PH can return to selling their wares where they should, namely inside the restaurant itself. For me, it's close to a win-win for each side...

And my apologies to anyone who has a hard time deciphering my anacronisms. :D

It closed and was replaced by Little Miss Matched.

Actually, that's up where Dept. 56 used to be. The Starabilias in DTD Anaheim was replaced with a Kitson Kids. They sell 100 dollar t-shirts for junior Paris Hilton wannabes, just like the big Kitson in West LA, so I don't know how they are doing.

I'm surprised Planet Hollywood has lasted as long as it did. It was getting old and tired about 10 years ago, and I can't believe the one in Orlando is still there. It's a concept that just seems very, very 1990's.

(Get rid of the %^$# acronisms), why can't people simply take the time to type what they mean instead of forcing dozens of readers to waste the time trying to figure out what a writer is too lazy to type?
the time WASTED by each reader trying to figure out an acronism far exceeds the time saved by the writer writing them.

I think if he took the time to look around he would find a list of acronyms and their definitions; other Disney sites have them. Any chat board is going to have its own language and set of either acronyms or abbreviations....
