Plan C for Pleasure Island

Well there are different projects that disney should have built before ones that interfere with the guest experience. Though I would not be surprised that someone would complain about work being done on beachcomber island while they had their wedding.

The current site can be used as a port and a staging area. With the plan I have, there would be a pavilion for those guests staying on the island. The cottages would be large enough for bridemaids and the bride to get ready. Along with that is an onsite restaurant for entertaining the wedding party and couples on the island. This would also have a reception desk which would be staffed 24/7.

As for transportation to and from the island, there are two docks with their own fleet of boats. The docks are a 1,000 feet from shore, by the time someone reaches shore there would be an ambulance waiting.

Development is driven by infrastructure. Building it is expensive. Bringing it to an island when plenty of land exists immediately adjacent to existing infrastructure just isn't going to happen. Not in my lifetime.

How did the "world" work out for Dubai? There was ridiculous money flowing in there for a couple year. Defunct. Done. Crumbling.

Also, why do we have to develop every dog gone thing? A little wild here and there gives a richness in contrast.

Back on topic - this thread is about Pleasure Island "Plan C." Not DVC.

Way past the Blue Sky stage on this. Blue Sky is a simple concept. If it's rejected it goes away and is filed. If it is accepted, they start working on many different versions. I've seen over 30 versions of the DTD redo.

Nope, not a People Mover. :animwink:

Thank you! I'm not on here as much as I would like to be anymore. But when I see something that I can comment on then I will chime in...then run.

Very true. I don't know the time frame for this project but they are working out every detail as much as they can. This is why construction on Hyperion Warf stopped. It isn't just the West Side that will change. They are now looking at the entire DTD area (including Saratoga Springs Resort) to tie everything together. When all is said and done, though many years away, it's going to be huge!

Yep, I did but haven't seen much on that lately. Doesn't mean it's out off the table though.

Two items that I mentioned are consistant in all of the concepts: structured parking and the new exit off of I4. This exit should releave a lot of tourist raffic on 535. The new exit is planned between TDO and Typhoon Lagoon.

Is this what you've been seeing for DtD/PI:

Don't you think they can at the very least get started on some kind of parking structure? These things take FOREVER to build and regardless of what they come up with for the DTD overhaul, they are going to need a better parking situation.

While the situation may not be ideal, DtD has never hurt for parking space.....

No, Jt, not an error. Unlike yourself I have been at DtD during the following times:

Memorial Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas/New Years
October during the F&W Festival and Festival and MNSSHP

At none of those times (all within the past two years) have I had any problems finding parking at DtD. Please, when was your last visit there, and what issues did you encounter?

Parking, is at worst, crazy at peak times. But I have always been able to secure a spot, even if I have to park at the far end of West Side. My fear is that if they build a garage, they'll charge for parking. And then what locals who still enjoy DTD will stop going altogether.

Do you think Unis new announcement for the expansion of City walk will get Disney moving?

Well, nothing has really been announced pertaining to that yet, and we really don't know what's coming.

As for your question, Disney's shown a propensity for not really caring what Universal does. So no, I don't think it will make a difference.

It does not matter what Disney World announces - especially recently. Here is some of what Disney has announced recently:

  • Coloring with Aurora
  • Meet Cinderella and biys can prentend to be her knight
  • Hyperion Wharf
  • Test Track re-do
  • Avatarland

So, some of these are certainly not happening and some are in serious question. Bottom line is....wait til you see the bulldozers. And even in the case of Hyperion Wharf even those bulldozers didn't mean much.

If they build a parking garage, I am sure that there will be shops attached to it, which will help to offset the monthly maintenance.

Do you mean, literally attached to it--like shops in the parking garage? Or that they'll open more shops and charge higher rent to offset the costs? Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't already found a way to charge for parking, considering how the cost at the parks have skyrocketed over the years. The same for the water parks. I'm probably jinxing it all. But yeah, if they bring in more shops and charge the shops to offset the garage maintenance, hopefully that'd be the case.
