It was the best Muppets theming they have done since Muppet Vision 3D. The most time and care for that property on property. It should have possibly been a Table Service, but Mama's next door suits that need. Realistically it should be given a chance until the traffic increases from Star Wars(which maybe then it will return to a full status.) This is all more than likely due to the resort wide budget cuts and freezes for the wages and other capital until parks pick up.

The thing that I don’t understand is why did they retheme it to start with to serve the same pizza? The food was terrible at Pizza Planet too but it was Pizza Planet. Disney totally dropped the ball by not putting a Pizza Planet back in Toy Story Land. Put Pizza Planet back there with better pizza!!! Heck, even if it is crappy pizza, at least it would be Pizza Planet.
And a huge claw machine with those aliens (although doesn't florida have odd laws about winning things in machines), you could make it where you always win if that's the case. Can you imagine the money they would make.. a 20 cent alien, charge 5 dollars a chance...... id like it for the theming, but it would make a cool souvenir as well

To be fair, it's hard to choose between one. What else has been built on property since Muppet Vision that's themed to the Muppets?
This is what is so weird about it. Out of WDW there is nothing else Muppet related at any other Disney parks..It's really sad that while Disney struggles to keep The Muppet side on life support Sesame Workshop on the other hand is building a new Sesame Street area a few miles up...

On a very recent vlog, it showed that there was very little Muppet merch in the Muppet gift shop.

Muppets have lost their relevance, TBH. The only way they can make a return is if Disney ACTUALLY makes them return.

I've made SEVERAL people my age (Late teens/early twenties) watch their FIRST Muppets movie this year. And by several, I mean between 10 and 15 people. Introducing them to the 2010 movie, because it is the most entertaining one for new-time watchers.

Literally everyone my age on college campus are like "Muppets? Thats like, Elmo and kids stuff right?" or "I've never seen anything but I know of them."

They aren't relevant. The 2010 movie addresses the issue perfectly, and Disney honestly just left it off there after bank wasn't happening with the TV show or the sequel.

Personally, Rizzo was to be a draw IMO. DHS and Disney knew once they started SW:GE construction that the whole back end of DHS was going to be dead and have little to no draw. So they did some revamp in Muppets area to make it more updated and revamped the restaurant to have a Muppets feel in hopes to draw some traffic in that area. I also think that once the new area just outside SW:GE got opened, traffic stopped going back to Mama Melrose and Rizzo.

But.....

That being said once SW:GE opens, this area will be swamped with people, so I have no doubt Muppets will be maintained, Rizzo will re-open in hopes of pulling some traffic from SWL gate.

I think the way to revive the Muppets is to stay away from original stories and use them as a device to tell classic tales. I know a lot of people will disagree but Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island were both how I was introduced to those classic pieces of literature as a child. The current History based show in Liberty Square is also an example of this. If they aren't going to do anything else with them I think this is a formula that has been proven to work.

If they had just spent some money (besides the food) and just added some sound effects some cheap animatronics (like Disney store level) maybe loud noises and smoke coming from the kitchen (maybe some Swedish chef yelling and clanging dishes) heck rats up top on a conveyor belt like they were running. It really wouldn't have been that expensive and would have added an "attraction" to an area that needs it.
I think this was the plan at one point for the original muppets area. Which I agree would have been amazing.

It's also kinda amusing that myself (and many others in the Muppet Fandom) assume that Rizzo is going to be the only one of Steve Whitmire's characters who isn't replace but rather we'll just see the character phased out. Steve was fired a year and a half ago. Minor characters he played like Lips and Link have already found new (better) performers. Rizzo? Not so much as a peep about Rizzo. I have a strong feeling we won't be seeing the character again.
It's ironic that Disney rethemed a restaurant around a character it would do away with two years later. Yeeeesh.

Considering he also did the voices of Bean Bunny and Waldo in the attraction as well...

Also Rizzo had a business in DCA directly in front of their version of Muppet*Vision (Ironic)..But, instead of food it was Merchandise..

I think Disney was doing the right thing for awhile with the muppet on youtube. They still have like daily or weekly thoughts (I forget). But for awhile they had waldorf and statler at the movies (where they would review movies) they did that cooking thing with Gordon ramsey (promo for most wanted), muppets in the kitchen with cat cora, they did covers of famous songs (bohemian rhapsody) , the muppets were performing live (Hollywood bowl) with more dates coming, they have been announced to have a show in 2019 on the streaming network. Muppet babies are back,
I think either shorts on the streaming, or continue on youtube. I think little 5 min skits, either a cooking show, an at the movies, or even a behind Disney is where they do well.

but what a ridiculous dead ended theme that is... If Guardians Of The Galaxy fits Future World in EPCOT, Pizza Planet is a LOT closer in theme. at least it is from the same franchise and story.

Al’s Toybarn was included in the original model. It isn’t so out of the realm that Andy would build or buy toy replicas of his fave Toy Store or Pizza Place in his backyard. Heck even Barbie had a McDonalds drive thru. 😬

Hey, don't complain to me... Andy could just as easily have ripped up a couple of his old shirts (or Woody and Jessie sheets) and provided some shade for the toys in his back yard, too...

yeah I'm not a huge fan of the thoughts of the week, I loved the other stuff though. The issue is they would start it then stop, and most people didn't know they existed and if they did it was after they were cancelled.
Agreed. I got the impression that ABC never really committed to the new Muppets.
