PizzeRizzo announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios - Was: Rumor: Pizza Planet/Mama Melrose closing?

We'll obviously know more once it opens, but this seems like this is the "simple" Muppet restaurant. Themed just enough for fans, but nothing too outrageous to deter people who want pizza but aren't fussed with the Muppets as a whole. I wouldn't be shocked if Mama Melrose goes down for refurb like rumored and becomes a more heavily themed Muppet restaurant. And I definitely wouldn't count out the idea of using live Muppets as entertainment at whatever Mama Melrose becomes and having the new Liberty Square show serve as a test for it.

Concept art looks fantastico. Keeping Muppet Square seems permanent. Which means Star Tours will get rethemed in all likelihood. Small sacrifice considering the monstrous expansion coming to the Studios. IMO.

Amazing times at WDW.

Short to medium term yes, but the theming is generic enough that the land could be changed into something else.

Muppet Tours:cautious:

As I suggested in the Liberty Square thread, redoing Star Tours as Pigs in Space would be a great idea. Replace the Ewok forest and AT-AT with a full scale Swine Trek and there you go.

It would be so awesome if Disney would do that. If it looked something like this, I would be so happy.

First look at PizzeRizzo concept art! (From the site that shall not be named)

I like it, and I like the route they went with this. Looks like a very thorough and quality refurb. The elevated addition to the left side particularly stands out to me as a great feature. And I like that they still have faith in the Muppets, not because I'm a Muppets fan, but because it shows that they see potential in something other than the movie of the year.

Only small complaint is about the billboard, specifically the arrow, which bothers me because it clashes with the New York Italian Pizzaria style on the right. I do really like that there is a billboard, as they are kind of a uniting feature of the park (though I imagine SWL and TSL will not have any). But the arrow, the animated Rizzo... even just the style of the left side feels like it conflicts with the right.

That aspect could look much better in person, and I don't mean to sound down on this at all. Perhaps it doesn't matter, since, because of the tight location, nobody will actually have the full, straight on view that the art portrays.

Overall, it's a huge improvement over that cafeteria that wrongfully used the name Pizza Planet. That place was the king of clashing styles. :D

I hope the inside is just as much of an improvement.

If this isn't staying long term, I'm pretty sure Disney would have either left Pizza Planet how it was, or simply swapped out some cardboard cutouts and called it a day. This seems like it is more extensive.

It depends on how much they invest in Muppets specific theming. Based on the exterior concept art, they change a few sings and it could be something else.

So, just like Snow White style, we have to lose a ride to gain one? Would Star Tours possibly become an Indy ride?

Hopefully whatever Star Tours could be going to be re themed to that that will not be considered the new eticket.
