But if the box office numbers are so important, they would have used a different IP instead of Tron

But isn't it a clone? So that would cost money to re-IP it?

I see your point about box office not being the only factor. I still think when you take everything into account for Coco, including the fact that Gran Fiesta already exists (therefore not adding capacity), along with the box office, and lack of merchandise opportunities, this one isn't going to happen. We'll see.

What is the flaw? Do tell. Tron?

Tron is a clone that will add capacity to the most overcrowded park in WDW. This won't add any capacity
This will cost less than a quarter of what tron will cost. And while coco won't add capacity it will increase utilization of existing capacity.

The flaw is that you are ignoring the many less successful films that have received and are receiving theme park investment.

Ok, so then they would build a Coco ride regardless of the box office if it added capacity?

Do you just not want them to build it for some reason?

I don't know look at the foreign gross for Coco, seems pretty low if you ask me. Especially for a movie which opened in Mexico and China already.

You should also take in account that the ones who actually have inside information have stated that it's most likely happening unless it is a box office failure similar to The Good Dinosaur (Coco should surpass, at least the domestic gross of TGD, by next week) and that all the plans have been finished, as @marni1971 and @Magic Feather have stated. Also @WildcatDen said that the Coco Overlay was happening even if it's not a box office success (which Coco has proven to be so far)...

Ok so it's happening. Okey dokey. No offense to sources, but I'll believe it when I see the release from Disney
