the current queue is tiny, but perhaps they could expand into the space used for the cultural exhibition that has been closed down for years...

I've nothing against Gran Fiesta. Even if I did prefer El Rio.
I don't have anything against Gran Fiesta either, I actually enjoy it, but I felt like it could have been much more the last time I rode it. So I was hoping that the Coco overlay would help with that feeling.

It's got not an insignificant budget for what it is, but don't expect a gut and rebuild.

The current queue has its overflow roped switchbacks to use too. I dare say it'd be fine after a few months.

Are we talking Maelstrom to Frozen level?

I just checked my notes and I have Gran Fiesta Tour at 1800-2000, I'm guessing that's not right with a single load/unload. Does anyone know the true capacity of Gran Fiesta Tour?

If the movie/ride change is moderately successful I could see them taking out the adjacent shop or dipping into San Angel Inn's territory.

I think expecting an overlay like maelstrom to frozen is just unrealistic. With that being said I still expect very significant changes there would have to be.

.
Just dug through some material. Assuming everything is prefect the ride system was designed for a max of 2400 an hour. But as we know everything is hardly ever perfect (though load/unload are split)
