Pixar and Disney Theme Parks

Looks like Pixar is setting up it's own Imaginering Dept. Seem's odd as you would think they would just have some staff on secondment to WDI.

It's just to help WDI with Theme Park Rides, based on Pixar Films.

To act as a consultant, and also to produce any animation for these ride's if it is needed.

Makes sense to me.

Not really. It has nothing to do with Pixar forming their own Imagineering Department. I am sure they foresee many new theme park projects and want people in place to be able to handle the extra animation work.

I agree, just thought it was interesting.

I wish....

Thanks for the heads up! Very interesting position....

I was thinking about applying myself just to see what would happen. Would they even bother to send a rejection letter to someone with no experience in the field?

I wish they would put the Pixar animators in the Disney Animation Studio at Disney/MGM Studios.

That would make the tour awesome.

I know...not gonna happen....
...but I can dream can't I?

I wonder why they need to offer this post after loads of attractions have already been built or are in the process of being built in the parks. Surely they can not be adding much more Pixar to the parks.

Hmm..

I noticed that the most specific they get is "Theme Park". They don't mention any SPECIFIC theme park company, so for all we know, they could be creating preshows for Universal or Six Flags and the like. Though I doubt that will be the case.

What I see this as isn't a whole seperate branch of Imagineering, just a seperate branch to create the video safety spiels and such. Like those screens on the initial ascent in SSE. Those are computer generated. Maybe we're seeing the advent of more of those.

One reason I posted this was the possibility that someone that is a member of this board might be interested in applying for the position.

(Then maybe we ... WDWMAGIC .. could have an inside man/women to get the latest dope! Or even have some behind-the-scenes say in what comes next! lol)

There is nothing here that says this a new position. Pixar, as an independant company (regardless of who owns it) needs to have staff in place to protect their properties. I know they have a producer who's sole job is to make sure that all product tie ins (from McDonald's to plush toys to videogame packaging) are approved and follow their guidelines.

Pixar has to sign off on everything Disney wants to, and its the job of producers to manage the nuts and bolts side of things. So, say, Disney wants to create a circlevision animated movie staring the Monster Inc. characters. Disney would work with Pixar to design the attraction and then hire Pixar to do the animation. The Pixar producer would be responsible for making sure this happens as fluidly as possible. There had to be someone in this same position when Tough to be a Bug was created. And when walk around characters were created. And Turtle Talk. And the new Nemo attractions. And.....
