Pix without DumboVision

i am 5 foot 11, and i stand on a 5 inch off the ground ledge to get my pics, even though i myself could not see for myself.

I find it hard to believe anyone is standing on garbage cans...

I was wondering about this and was just about to ask how tall the walls were. I'm 6'5...so i'm betting I can get a few good shots when I go down there on the 13th of February :) Without breaking my neck!

I can tell you that a memo went out to security just over 2 weeks ago.. They are to detain anyone photographing 'over the walls' that they see.. Memory cards will be confiscated and individuals will be escorted off property.. It has happened twice since the memo went out..

Be careful.

Since when was it illegal to put your camera in the air and take a picture!?! I can understand if someone is being unsafe... but just snapping pics over a wall isn't a crime. How can they get away with confiscating memory cards!?! If it was such a problem wouldn't they have signs up saying no photography?

Exactly I'd love for security to try and take my 32gb memory card. I would have a field day with them.

People are trespassed from property on a daily basis. Don't push your luck with security. They love trespassing people. And if you proceed to come back again, Orange County will come with handcuffs. It isn't worth it.

I wasn't saying I would do anything crazy. I'm just saying if they attempt to take my memory card for taking pictures of construction I will cause a scene. I have about 2,000 pictures on there and it's a 80 dollar memory card. No way they are taking that from me. If there aren't any signs that say no photos allowed then yes I will fight with security because that's an absolute joke.

FYI, I was at MK today (security watched me as I took photos, so i guess the policy is real) and the pinochio outside balcony is closed... "CM access only" is taped onto the doors and the outside stairs has a temporary barricade over it...

I would guess next they will cover the windows with that snow covering..

So they sat there and watched you and didn't do anything?

Don't shoot the messenger..

It's not against the rules to take pictures, even over the walls.. They are specifically looking for:

- Holding or a tri/mono-pod in the air to take pictures over the wall (safety hazard)

- Standing on Planters, Scenary, Chairs, Tables, Trash Cans, or other park facilities

- Climbing the wall and hanging from the top to take pictures.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that of the 2 people that were bounced from the park.. One was standing on top of a closed Ice Cream cart (large one with the hand brakes) and the other had a camera on a tripod that fell off (and subsequently over the wall) ... They would have been fine except they went to guest services to try to retrieve their camera..

Just be careful guys.. Thats all I'm saying.. Security DOES like to trespass.. It's pretty much like giving someone the death penalty in WDW ;)

they do not confiscate your equipment, but they do require that any photos taken be deleted.. and if they do confront you.. Play nice... trust me.. the policy is nearly zero-tolerance at this point...

I wasn't breaking the rules, I was simply standing as far back on as high ground as possible (without being on anything other than solid ground)

they probably just wanted to be sure I wasn't being sneaky since It is a pretty big lens and could be used for evil with the wrong person

The Walt Disney company does have a right to protect its brand. There may not be any "signs" that says you cant take pictures, but they can and more than likely will get you for something else.

This happened to me at my local mall, which is owned by SIMON properties. We went there to do a school project which included both motion and still shots. We were taking still shots near the food court when plain clothes security politely asked us to leave. When we stated there wasn't any signs they stated for branding and competitive purposes they do not allow any filming or photo shoots without expressed written permission from both the store and the mall since the mall is private property. They threatened us that they had the right to eject us for trespassing and had the right to confiscate any media that had they brand or we could be sued for copyright/trademark infringement.

I'm sure since WDW is private property they can hide behind this reasoning.

However, for anyone who wants to do it... The pictures are welcomed, just be safe and take great pictures.

Not shooting the messenger... but I don't even know why Disney is even concerning themselves with this!?! Again, I understand the safety issue and agree that those who are standing on or hanging off things should be stopped. But why put an end to the pictures!?! Isn't this free publicity for their new land? Even the casual tourist who takes pics of it will show it to friends and family back home (saying, look what Disney World is building)! This is building excitement and giving the new FL great press in my mind.

But what do I know...

Ok at first it sounded like security was clamping down on taking pics.
After reading this it's clear they are clamping down on stupidity.
Even if the person had no camera and was standing on an ice cream cart their *ss should be hauled out of the park.
Same goes to the guy dropping his camera (or anything for that matter) over the wall as it is a safety and security risk.

I propose a guy on another's shoulders and the use of a really long trench coat.

Muppet Man style.....I'll be an arm!!!!! :ROFLOL:

Seriously; doesn't California Adventure have a platform where guests can view the construction area? Why don't we have one of those?

i took pictures about a week ago on top of the planters next to the tea cups (which is the new best place to get pictures and they didn't say anything to me.) But i was just where alot of people were sitting. I was not hindering anyones experience or putting anyone in danger so, i don't see the problem.
