A comparison between MK and DL makes more sense than a comparison between DLR and WDW. :)

I don't think anyone ever mentioned comparing the DLR to WDW in this thread. We have always been talking about Disneyland vs. Magic Kingdom, which was an offshoot of the Pirates vs. Pirates discussion.

No one ever tried to compare DLR to WDW. That would be apples to oranges.

These are definitely photos from the ongoing rehab, not an earlier one.

Also, the girl singing "Yo Ho" is how the first Pirates movie started... right?

Yes. Pretty cool start to the movie too.

I agree... I think it would be really cool to hear that echo in the cavern right after the drop, and then see the aparition of Davey Jones (as I heard was supposed to happen in that spot) :sohappy:

I STRONGLY disagree with you and im sure others will too.

If WDW is the #1 vactation destination on the planet (which it doesnt deserve IMO...Disneyland deserves that title) it better have the best of the best.

WDW is the #1 vactation destination on the planet but not because of the MK. It is because of MK, Epcot, MGM, AK, 21 hotels, Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island, 2 water parks, 5.5 golf courses, 4 miniture golf courses, and much more. Obviously Disneyland is better than MK on its own but the fact is it needs to be.

Why even bother to argue. They are 2 separate parks. And they should both be different. You should not have the same rides at both parks because you should want to travel and see what the other park has to offer. DL is more cozy and is the orignal. MK is great clone that was able to build its own identity.

Well, looks like you guys were right. The Pirates photos have now been removed by request. Evidently someone at WDW wasn't too happy about them.

I've read that they are increasing the length of the WDW Pirates by removing the drop off area where everyone gets off the ride and just start having people get off where you get on, thus adding another show room to the ride.

Does anyone know - Is this true?

On the Pirates v Pirates debate my opinion is pretty simple -
MK version - Pretty Good.
DL version - Utterly Fantastic.

I've been to Paris and Japan, but never to the Disney parks. Always on business. Maybe next time I can go to the parks and hit the Pirates rides for my super important POTC essay.

Rule #1:
Whenever cool photos like that hit the net...save immediately.

Ouch! Possibly lends more weight to them being the current rehab.

Regarding the cave singing...I can`t remember how PotC 1 starts... digging out the DVD :)

This has been discussed a lot previously. Popular concensus up to now is no - it`s feasible, but not without a much bigger budget and virtually rebuilding the up ramp area.

Absolutley :D

The Tokyo version is almost a direct copy of Anaheim's, except there is only one drop, the caverns are shorter, and the unload area is seperate from the load area. But the show scenes are almost all identical to Anaheim, especially the Blue Bayou and everything from the Battle Scene through the Burning City.

The Tokyo queue is the same as Anaheim's, except where there is outside queue in Anaheim near the Jungle Cruise/Indy it's indoors in Tokyo in a fancy salon room. It rains in Tokyo, so more things are indoors like Orlando.

But overall the Tokyo Pirates is a direct copy of Anaheim.

Paris took the previous versions and started from scratch to build the best yet. Large multi level themed queue like WDW. Loading area like Anaheim. Float past Blue Lagoon restaurant. Float through shipwreck and into the sea - great SFX skyscape. Into sumgglers cove, onto themed lifthill, upto 3rd floor. 1st small drop. Superb burning galleon FX, projected shadows fighting, AA swinging on a rope over ride boats. Float through jail scene, splashdown 2nd drop...

Fortress battle scene. Great FX. A100 animatronic. Float into port - pattern pretty much like WDWs, but with updated lighting, sets, audio, lots of gunfire fx & more A100s. Duelling AA`s - superb. Float through burning city and into the towns arsenal - splashdown 3rd drop into lower level.

BOOM! Arsenal explodes as you splash. Lots of FX. Into caves. Skeleton pirate at wheel of ghost ship. Lots of lightning & rain fx. Caverns, waterfalls. More skeleton AAs with treasure. Great visual gags. Lovely lighting. Dead men tell no tales, then into unload (same station as load)

That`s the Readers Digest verison of Paris Pirates :D A stunning version.

I would think Disney legal... After all, Ricky got permission from the person who took the video and photos to use them.. Unless the person who took them was feeling some heat and requested they come down.
