Pirates Queue

Hello all, heard an interesting rumor via a certain podcast the other day pertaining to interactive elements being added to the PoTC queue. I've ridden Pirates the last two days and noticed several scrim type blockades up throughout the right queue. Does anyone know anything about this?

I heard this on the Inside The Magic podcast.

Is there something taboo about mentioning podcasts by name?

I think this is a great idea. The PotC queue is themed well, but it is very long and could use some interactive aspects.

I actually don't agree. I think the queue in itself is an attraction. Personally i think adding anything interactive dumbs down the attraction.

I haven't heard about this. If this is true, then all I can say is congrats Disney. Congratulations on ruining the best "classic" queue.

Seriously, they already screwed with the original ride by adding the movie characters. Now I guess they have to finish the job by destroying the charm of the queue as well. :fork:

Not to mention making a ride about Pirates politically correct...

Jake and the Neverland Pirates interactive que coming soon...

Maybe we just have a different idea of what "interactive" means. Would I want something like the HM graveyard? No. But something that could trigger a cannon firing, or some dialog from a skeleton, or some sort of treasure map slowly appearing on a wall....that sounds like it has a lot of promise.

What are they adding that will now ruin PotC queue?
Not everything they do is bad. I would argue the Indiana Jones queue at Disneyland is interactive and the interactive elements are fantastic...I would guess we won't be seeing TV screens in the Pirates queue.

The additions to the HM are very popular...

:veryconfu so i guess you won't be riding anymore so that means shorter lines for me...or maybe your just always in a bad mood?

The HM queue was unnecessary... I really don't care how "popular" something is... It was unnecessary... And it is unnecessary for the Pirates queue as well... These interactive elements are a waste and it ruins the queue in my opinion... Pirates already has a fine queue... No need to add noise making interactive elements...

Winnie the Pooh queue and HM queue says so... Those two queues are noisy... Because of the interactive elements... Take the interactive stuff away, noise they create are gone, and the queues are fine... The interactive stuff is unnecessary... Put the money toward fixing the ride, not a queue that does not need it...

dxer07002. He also said he hates things for being popular and wants the park to never change.

Actually, he never said the other two things, and was merely expressing his opinion. You might want to consider that before putting words into someone else's mouth.

I don't get why some people hate the character additions to the ride. I think they were done very tastefully, especially considering what COULD have been done.

And I'm really not into "interactive" queues Disney has been forcing on us lately. Like someone else said, it really feels like its being dumbed down rather than adding anything. My idea of an interactive queue is somthing like the spike room and well in the Indiana Jones queue in DL. You don't need video games to keep people interested.

Remember the days when Disney was hailed as a maverick for making themed queues instead of of boring roped off feeder lines. Amazing how some think adding to that experience is a bad thing.

The ques are very popular. Why should they stop doing something the guests enjoy and only two dozen 40 year old men on the internet disapprove of?

It's such a toss up whether it will be good or not. I think that's the problem some people have. I'm interested to see what they do, but I'd be lying if I said the HM queue gave me any confidence.

The Pooh queue and Space Mountain queue are examples of improvements, and the HM one is an expample of a significant downgrade. I just don't want to see the same thing happen at Pirates as it did in the Mansion.

I think the Space Mountain queue is one of least inspired of the marque WDW rides. I mean, they have some kinda cool windows that look out in to space but the video game screen they added is pretty lame.

I'd like to see more printed material added. Maybe some futuristic advertisements. Or something similar to the videos that play at Star Tours. Or some sort of led light show on the walls and ceiling.

The chess playing skeletons will now blow bubbles and there will be some pirate wench voice that sounds like the Fairy Godmother asking guests to come up with obvious rhymes for a sea shanty she's having trouble with.

Personally, I don't mind a queue change here and there. But refurbishing every queue just to keep kids entertained? It really is not neccessary, IMHO.
