In this thread we can discuss the box office numbers for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Currently the hype is unbelievable, it's tracking at all-time highs with all demographics. Almost every major box office website is predicting this to beat Spider-Man's opening weekend record of $114,844,116. Sellouts for tonight's midnight showings are crazy too, the AMC Pleasure Island 24 has sold out 11/11 shows which is a number X-Men: The Last Stand, Superman Returns, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and others couldn't even come close to.

My OW Prediction: $135.9m
My Domestical Total Prediction: $462.0m (Multiplier: 3.4)

Would not be surprised with $500m+ though, this could easily pull a Shrek 2 on us.

That would be very cool. Don't think that they did, but it would have been a cool hard-ticketed event- see the movie, then go to MK for a short reception (outside the ride, of course) and ride the ride.

Small town local theater was FULL tonight. I've never seen that before except for The Passion of The Christ, but that's a different beast all together. And in a nearby larger city, every showing was sold out today. Unreal. Spider Man, you're opening weekend record is about to go down.

Even though I had advanced tickets, I took a peak at the box office, and it had five theaters showing the movie, and each had atleast half of their shows sold out. And one even, had a huge SOLD OUT sticker on one whole theater! I've NEVER seen that before. This will definately beat Spidey's record.

$55.5m is now the biggest opening day and single day in history....beats Revenge of the Sith's $50.0m which held both records. It also takes X-Men: The Last Stand's Friday record of $45.1m away, and without a doubt Spider-Man's $114.8m OW record. :D

They should have ran the attraction, with a bunch of screens throughout it, and then you would ride the attraction for 150+ minutes, and watch the movie at the same time.:D

Near me, it's running all day on what looks to be 4 theaters, and it's been selling out all night. At 7pm-ish, only one of two 7:30 showing was open (and it's torrentially downpouring here) while the 8pm's are sold out, as well as 10pm's and one of the 10:30's.

Superman Returns is fantastic and so is everything else in the top 5, except Prada which I haven't seen. 4 best films of the year so far, IMO, on that list.

Nice to see Cars hanging in there. Glad to see POTC2 become so successful.

Wow, Superman took quite a tumble. Minus almost half of its intake.

I went to see Pirates last night.

12:30am showing (technically today, Sunday morning) and it wasn't a sold-out show, but it was busy.

And staying until the end of the 10minutes worth of credits... not worth it at 3am.
