The movies that crossed the 400 million dollar mark were:
Titanic, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Shrek 2, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Spider-Man, and now PotC: Dead Man's Chest.

I just read that PotC: Dead Man's Chest is now the biggest grossing film in Disney history, and at something like $965 million, nearing a billion, it will be one of the top grossing films world wide in history!

Although it fell out of the top ten, Pirates grossed another $4.0 million this weekend to bring its domestic total to $407.5 million. That makes Pirates the 6th biggest film of all-time in North America(unadjusted). It will likely stay in that position as the 5th biggest film is Star Wars Episode I which grossed over 430 million during its run.
Internationally, Pirates remained the #1 film for a 8th straight weekend with another 17.8 million.
Worldwide, Pirates has now grossed $972.3 million, just 28 million shy of $1 billion, a feat that only 2 other movies in history have ever been able to reach. Look for it to pass that mark in the coming weeks.

Titanic grossed 1.8 billion and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King grossed 1.1 billion worldwide during its run.
POTC: DMC will likely remain Disney's biggest film and one of the industry's biggest films for a long time. Very few movies can reach what POTC: DMC will by the end of its worldwide run. Honestly, the only Disney film that may rival that will be POTC 3, however, with the competition next year at the Box office, it will have a more difficult time reaching what DMC has.

I hope that Disney will see that if you produce a good, detailed movie, that it will make a lot of money. So hopefully, we will see much more movies like this.

That's true! There are tons of movies coming out next year!
PotC 3, Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, Spider-Man 3, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3-D...it's going to be a great year!!!

Yes, they are releasing all 6 Star Wars movies in order in 3-D for the 30th Anniversary. As far as I know, the first one will come out this summer. It is going to be awesome!

Pirates, helped by the Labor day Holiday, was down just 6.9% from last weekend to bring its total to $412.8 million domestically.
Pirates remained #1 for the 9th straight weekend internationally with an additional $11 million for a worldwide total of $991.9 million. It is expected to cross the $1 billion mark by this Friday, becoming only the 3rd film in box office history to cross that mark.

In just 64 days from it initial release, POTC: DMC crossed the 1 billion dollar mark to become only the 3rd film EVER to cross that milestone. It sets a new record for fastest to 1 billion beating the previous record holder LOTR: ROTK by 1 week. Lord of the Rings went on to make another 130+ million worldwide. With Pirates open in most major markets across the world, it will likely remain behind LOTR's total gross. Either way, it makes POTC the 3rd biggest film worldwide in industry history.
