Pirates of the Caribbean concept art, including new entrance

The more I look at it, the more it's growing on me. It looks like Disney is keeping their positive momentum after The Land and EE rolling along. And God knows the MK could use it. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

It's a Small World was the beginning, followed by the train station and the slow-but-sure refurbishing of Main Street. PotC will be the most dramatic restoration so far, since it will incorporate new characters and effects.

I hope HM is next

I can already imagine the outrage and ridiculous posts that will follow that announcement, but like you, I'm looking forward to a mansion refurb.
I see what was done LY at DL with HM, and what is due to be done this year.....I only hope they continue to upgrade the classic attractions

I think it looks wonderful! I'm very excited about the new enhancements. If they were ripping the ride out to put in a coaster or something I'd be just as upset as anyone - but all they are doing is breathing new life into an attraction that is almost 35 years old.

I think this will also add a great deal of value to those people who are familiar with the hit film and come to WDW expecting a taste of it. The original ride is remaining largely unchanged, so I truly feel this is the best of both worlds.

I also vote for the HM next - there are several sections (notably the fake giant spider) that could be completely removed and redone that would thrill me. It's probably my favorite dark ride, and I think it needs the love the most next.

I'm looking forward to the upgrades at PotC. Think the sign looks really great, but am hoping the best for the parrot out front. Can't wait til I get back to check it out for myself. And I agree I'd like to see HM get some love, but would also like to see the Jungle Cruise get some plussing like DL's did last year. The new piranha scene at DL just sounds so cool to me.

Yeah, that does sound good. Any rough timeline on that? In the next three years? Five years? Longer?

WDI have been looking at Space Mountain for at least the past 12 months.

Being a former PotC CM, I have been probably the most hesitant to accept changes at Pirates. She's my baby. But now that it's happening I really do just have to live with it. And the more I think about it, the more I realize that I always get upset with changes in other attractions and then end up loving the updates anyway. So I just have to anticipate that the Imagineers who have created unbelievable magic for us for decades will impress us even more than we can guess with this Pirates update. Now I just have to find some way to deal with the wait!!

Unless I'm mistaken, I think this concept art of the entrance is showing the side where the tower is (the people in the drawing would make a left immediately after going under the arches to enter the que). Thus the parrot would be around the corner in the drawing and not affected by the sail. Right? :veryconfu

You beat me to it! I'm glad someone posted this, you are correct about the location of the new sail/sign. The tower would be immediately to the left, that is why it is not in the concept art photo. Technically, if you took a picture of the entrance on the left side with the same proportions as the concept art photo, the tower would not be seen.

I'm somewhat happy with the new entrance concept, but I'm not happy with the refurb in general... :(
