Let it go...

I have already started the write in campaign to get Beckett, Norrington, Will, and Elizabeth added... I also suggested they add a last scene with a huge Tia Dalma, I mean, Calypso, to the end of the ride, but make it to where your boat is going down the huge water funnel...

Ok, ok, ok... I'll let it go....

This closure is for some necessary infrastructure work and should be completed on time. Depending on the timeframe the speaker placement project may be completed during this time or later this year.

I haven't checked on the dates recently, but 'm guessing that perhaps they are waiting to refurb until after all the 2008 Pirate Princess Parties, which just happens to fall around that time?

Frankly, it's complaining by guests (who will have their magical WDW vacations 'ruined' if 1 or 2 of their favorite attractions are closed during their visits) that have gunshy management afraid to do necessary rehabs and plussing.

I have NO sympathy for anyone just because an attraction is closed during their visit. That's life. People need to be realistic.

If it's that important then you schedule a trip for when your faves are supposed to be open ... and understand that in the world of grownups sometimes things break and have unscheduled closings and we must deal with them without throwing temper tantrums or whining like ill-bred eight-year-olds.

 but at the same time, :sohappy: glad you said it... Someone had too... I had rides shut down during my trips and frankly, my vacation wasn't ruined.. I just enjoyed what was available to me..

Ah, okay, so there is finally a plan in place to get the speakers and audio up to Disneyland standards. Good news, though I'm not sure why they just didn't do that at the same time as Disneyland did in '06 when the ride was closed for a few months. It never ceases to amaze me how differently the two American properties operate and carry out their business.

And I never get tired of the excuse for less than thorough WDW maintenance that Disneyland needs the extra maintenance and extra additions because there are more "locals" going to Disneyland. That one just baffles me. As if nice folks who drove down to WDW 18 hours from Ohio are somehow less worthy of a good show than the nice folks who drove to Disneyland 60 minutes from San Diego.

WDW has over 25,000 resort rooms and timeshares that pump up Disney's coffers annually. The resort, in good times (and the past 3-4 years have been very good), makes more than enough to reinvest in a much larger way than what has happened.

To suggest that WDW can grow stale or things can be left unmaintained due to size of the property is just not the case.

AGREED! The amount of people making lame excuses why WDW should be poorly kept and updated is rediculous. WDW is the cash cow that paid for all those foreign parks, it's time it gets some lovin'. Thank God we are starting to see a turnaround. Now if MK can get it's missing E-Ticket back (the one that should have replaced 20K) things will be right in the world.

i have sympathy for those people! not that it changes anything... but that sucks when you can only make it to wdw once every some odd years and your favorite attraction happens to be down during then! yes, it needs to be done, and no matter what its going to be happening during someones vacation, but it still sucks and i still feel sorry for those people! my trip happens to be during this refurb but luckily it opens before i leave, but you can bet if it was going to be closed, i was not going to be very happy about it. would i still have a great trip? of course, but that would really bum me out. and this vacation was planned over a year ago, so less than 100 days before i leave they announce this and im supposed to reschedule my trip? not very likely. people have a right to be dissappointed.

It's interesting that they pick June for a major attraction rehab. I wonder if they would have done this 10 years ago. could it be that Disney is just about as busy during the so called off-season(Winter) as to the summer?

Just say all other things being equal they don`t have much of a choice.

I absolutely agree that people have a right to be disappointed.

But I certainly wouldn't let it affect my enjoyment of a trip.

It's one ride. (and a very overrated one compared to the other versions worldwide at that).

It's not like getting to World Drive and seeing a sign that WDW is closed.

It amazes me how many people, even those who frequent WDW forums, and moan about stuff being rehabbed during there trip. It is a year round park that is over 35 years old. There are rehabs all year long for rides. If anything many of the rides in MK don't go down enough for rehab and are allowed to get into such a crappy state. Unfortunately, there is hardly any off season anymore, which is when most rehabs used to be done, that mgmt sees no problem in doing rehabs during the summer. I hope it is true that this year they will finally go thru and update the rest of the sound system. Now if we can get the new lighting too that would be great. And could Winnie the Pooh go down and fix the smoke ring effect that I haven't seen work in years.

That reminds me of a few years back when they had a 36 hour emergency rehab.... wouldn't want that to happen again.

I prefer these planned rehabs versus the unscheduled "Holy-S#$%" type ones.
