Heading for the great escape.

According to TV reports in the UK, PoC II is to feature Keith Richards as Jack Sparrows dad.
So will there be Stones music added to the ride? Soon you could travel to the accompaniment, Hey You get off of my ride, I cant get no Fastpass action, Minnie, Undercover of the poncho, I know there only made of dough but I like them,.

That would be truly awesome. Think of all the money they'll save on special effects and make-up for Keith. And how about Paint it Black (and red and yellow) or Monkey Boy?

I don't know if this is true or maybe the person who started the "rumor" just did some homework.

Johnny Depp based his interpretation of Captain Jack Sparrow on the mannerisms of Keith Richards. Unless it's a coincidence, I believe this is just a rumor.

As of now...the credited cast is Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley. (courtesy of www.imdb.com )

Johnny Depp himself is reportedly pushing to have Keith Richards play his Dad in POC II...even if it is just for a short cameo. Considering Johnny Depp basically made Pirates the truly fantastic film it was with the way he played his character Jack Sparrow, he might just know what he is doing. Interestingly enough, some people among the high ranks at Disney grew increasingly concerned with this character after seeing some early footage and asked Depp to change it...Depp basically said trust me, I know what I'm doing and if you want me to stay on the film, this is the way I'm doing the character. So basically, Depp will probably get what he wants since he obviously knew what was right for POC I. Makes sense since he modeled the character after Keith Richards and Pepe Le Pu, the skunk from the WB cartoons :).

I first heard the rumor a couple of days ago about this. I haven't personally seen the reports, but they could very well be true. Knowing the internet rumor mill, I'll wait for official confirmation. ;)

Well, this would only make Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasure of the Lost Abyss even better than it already promises to be! I'm psyched for 2006!

I can definately see the Keith Richards in his acting, but am I the only one having a hard time seeing the Pepe Le Lew influence?

Personally I hope it's a rumor and we wont be seeing Richards in the next movie....even as just a cameo... Couldn't stand even 3 secs of the man.

Well having Richard would be fine except he won't be sober enough to learn any lines, so it will have to be a mute scene by him and by all means, KEEP HIM AWAY FROM THE WATER, the way he stumbles around he's likely to drop right of the edge and be bottom walking before he knows where he is.

About Depp, I dont believe that Depp threatened to quit the movie after being told to lay off the Richards thing. Depp is under contract making MEGA money for this role and would be sued for more than even he could imagine if he walked off. Plus this role is good for his own image. He's the perfect character for this.

What I read about this was that Depp said he thought he was going to be fired when some of the execs showed up the first day and saw what he was doing and were aghast. It just made them nervous butafter all, they hired him and it's not like he hasn't made a career out of quirky characters.

Ok, makes sense. Of course now that the movie is done, the character style is awesome, but I guess if we were Execs and our money went into that movie and we saw him stumbling around like that in filming, we'd be a bit nervous too.

Quirky characters is right. Have you seen Sleepy Hollow? Great movie!

well, he would be pretty cheap for the production company because they would not have to waste a bunch of time on teeth or oral make-up. im sure after smoking for 100 years, his teeth look just fine to play a pirate. lol

he virtually looks like death as it is so i think they could have him just show up. perfect. well, except for the sober thing.

No, I want to see that. I even like Secret Window, though by no means a great movie. But he was interesting enough to keep my attention.

I loved Secret Window, but perhaps it's just the way Johnny played his role. He made it his own and that definitely kept my attention in the movie. Also loved Sleepy Hollow, and Edward Scissorhands, and Gilbert Grape, and so on and so forth :D And can't forget POTC. That's a no-brainer!

I love your avatar! And while we reminiscing, can't forget Chocolat, Benny and Joon and Don Juan De Marco!
