Pictures at the end of the Ride.

I was riding RnRcoaster and we always stop and look at our ride picture that can be purchased. We bought the pic from the first time we rode but have never bought another. However, I noticed people are now walking up and taking a photo of the pic as it comes up on the screen. RnR is one of the few where it is in easy reach and you able to do that. I was standing away from the area when I watched someone take a photo. I was also standing not to far from the CM who was watching. Just as this person took the photo she had a notebook where she wrote down the number of the picture he took. I wonder what is up with that?

I don't know, but those pictures are a rip-off. I've been silly enough to buy quite a few as well. They're printed on paper that costs about $.05 per sheet. They could sell those for $5.00 and make back 100 times the cost with each one, and sell a heck of a lot more. Instead, they get greedy and nab you for about $20.

DW usually buys only one ride and one meal picture a trip, they're her collectables.
So we have a trip to trip progression Buzz Lightyear, Splash Mountain, Dinosaur etc. The same with the dinning pictures Hoop de Doo, Chef Mickey, Polynesian Luau etc.

I wish they'd put more of these photos on Photopass like they do with Test Track. I'd rather scan my card and have a digital copy for half the price then print it out for $0.05 at the local pharmacy if I ever wanted it.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to determine how many people ghetto em vs how many people actually buy. I don't think they really care about the picture number, but if they determine that enough people show interest, but don't buy, they may realize they need to switch to a system like Space Mountain, or maybe go all the way to Test Track system.

I have seen people take the picture of a picture. Why not right? I did it but I always buy one onride photo and have them poster size it! It's a great way to see how your family changes very year! I have four posters of BuzZ (we get the same one) and it shows how my son barley could see over the blaster to full on young man!
ps By the way I went to Busch Gardens here in va this past weekend and i was taking a pic of a pic and I was told I could not do that! Maybe Disney will follow that policy in the furture.

I totally agree!! I buy the Photopass CD and I would love to have all of the ride photos on it. Maybe more people would buy the photopass CD if they did that. Seems like it would be easy to make all the ride photo places like Test Track.

I usually do this on the space mt. photos. The other ones I barely pay attention too. But if there was an onride photo that I liked, I would take a picture of the picture.

They write down the number and hand you the ticket so that you don't forget it on the way to the register. The CM must have thought that they looked like they were going to buy, or that they were taking the photo to remind them of the number.

A month or two ago Disney filed a patent for a system that (among other uses of it) would essentially render those digital camera and cell phone camera photos useless.

It was an infrared system that can't be seen by the naked eye, but when you used most electronic devices to take a photo, large words would appear over the screen (or even just a totally white/blank screen) kind of like a large watermark over the image. This would work because most digital cameras record farther into the infrared spectrum than the human eye sees, even when not in night-mode.

This is interesting, and would definitely solve the problem of people taking those pictures. On our trip in May I took a picture of almost all of them.. bad, I know, but we were seriously considering buying a few until we saw the prices. Same on the Cruise. I would gladly pay 5, or even 10 dollars if it is a good picture. And besides, usually they turn our blurry on your camera anyway.

I think they'd sell a LOT more photos if they put photopass in. I've had times that I wished I had bought it but by then it was too late. If I could swipe my photopass then I could just pick the best ones at the end of the trip.

. . . and I think I'd rather buy ride photos than photos in front of the castle etc. Speaking for myself, I think I'd be spending more money on those photos with photopass in more rides.

I think that would be a good idea as well.....in July, I passed on the photo of our 1st ride, hoping to get our boys in a different order during a future ride.....Unfortunately, that first picture turned out to be the only one worth purchasing.....If the opportunity existed to purchase a previous photo, I probably would have when no other photos were as good.

Good Goobly Goo

I pray, pray, that they install this in the dark rides. Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tiki Room, Spaceship Earth, Nemo, etc.

My DW and I can not stand people that blow the whole mood of the ride so that they can take flash pics.

Please, oh please, oh please.

Sorry for asking, but what is a photopass and how does that work?

I’m sure some will answer this better than me but, basically a Disney photographer will take your picture and give a photo pass card with account information on it. When you get home you can view the picture (s) on line and decide if you wish to purchase and download them or not. They have photographers throughout the parks that do this.

Ummm...the system I described has nothing to do with camera flashes or stopping people taking photos while on the ride.
It just inserts a "watermark" overtop of the images shown on the on-ride photo screens at the end of the ride when taking a photo with a digital camera.
The system doesn't even really stop people from *taking* the photo of the photo screen display, but it renders the photo taken practically useless.
