The courts are 24hours. The lights are set to be turned off. When you play, you can turn a timer to turn the lights on for 20mins (like a hot tubs jets), then they automatically turn off. Really, the only court near Guest rooms is at Yacht, but it is surrounded by trees to absob the sound. We had played pickleball after dark in the 8-9pm hours.
Nice! Is the pick-up pb or do I need my own group?

If we were there you could play with us.

I rarely ever see Guests play tennis or pickleball at the Resorts. Lol
After the alligator killed the 2 year old guest on the beach at the Grand Floridian beach all waterways had signage installed warning about gators and snakes. For many years prior there were alligator warning signs next to the empty tennis courts / retention ponds at AK Lodge.

Pickleball is now available at several of WDW tennis courts including Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village, and Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Complimentary equipment is available at each court.

Finally. Now all my concerns about wdw can be put to rest.

What’s the up charge of playing pickleball or does the daily resort fee increase to cover this added guest option ?

Pickleball is what you do at home when you can't afford to go on a Disney vacation. Do you really want to pay thousands of dollars to go to Disney and play pickleball? :banghead:

What a ridiculously dumb post. Apparently if you like playing a sport at home means you can't afford to go to Disney.

I'm surprised in the past , WDW hosted a PGA tour event.

Most PGA Tour events aren't played on great courses (not that they're played on bad courses), believe it or not. The four majors are, but most of the regular PGA event venues aren't among the best courses in their state, much less the country.

Flipping through the cable channels now there is MLP, Major League Pickleball. Who knows, WDW may cash in on this and have a professional event with paying guests to see this very popular sport.

Some nasty and rude comments today, huh.

I don’t believe the pickleball and tennis courts aren’t in use because of the gator kill, but rather the decreasing physicality of the average American. In contrast, my dad and I do travel to WDW and enjoy the recreation options that are available. Not everyone who goes to Disney spends their days in lines. Others enjoy their Resort offerings as well. And the added pickleball lines were great to see.

That's an assumption why tennis courts are not much in use. I was advising AK Lodge decided pro actively to warn guests of gators thru signage next to tennis courts years before the little boy gator attack at the Grand Floridian . The tennis courts at WDW have been there for many years. Even 30 years ago I hardly saw any guests play tennis .
