Seriously?

But I don't want to have to decide right now when, where and what I want for lunch on August 11th. I want to play in a theme park and then grab a bite when we're hungry.
I would also rather be able to pop over and eat, but that's just not possible with the demand this place is getting. I still hope Disney will see the light and hold tables for walk-ups day of, but those days seem to be gone. Note, you don't have to pick your lunch menu in advance, you can just choose the time and then order on the spot.

Edit: per @Soarin' Over Pgh below, you may be required to order in advance. I'll look into it.

No, I was there as well. I can vouch for this being an authentic scene.

I understand it's real, I was just saying that I thought it was a joke and investigated the photo a bit, then realized it wasn't.
Thanks for the extra clarification, though :) Are they doing this only on the bridge, or on the extended line to the right of the bridge?

When we got the FP+ thing and tried to make reservations (see post above!) we HAD to order or it wouldn't set the ressies.

Hopefully they will/ have changed that.

The line that I saw only extended over the bridge. I did not see an additional line trailing off towards Gaston's. I would assume if they're doing that for the people in line over the bridge, I would assume they would do it for others as well.

It does seem to be an insane design flaw inherent with the Forced multi purpose all the restaurant. Seeing that line is complete justification for being our guest to be always a sitdown full-service restaurant as opposed to having a quick service lunch.

Yeah...like I said before....Disney totally missed the opportunity to build a lavish great hall and give guests access to the great hall, comfy chairs, Belle's giant library, etc. and have CMs greeting them and telling them about the tapestries and the architecture. And to have some living furniture here and there as a surprise while you wait. One of those rose notifiers would be yours as you tour the castle, then you are ushered into the restaurant when your table is ready.

That is an absolutely fantastic idea. Storytime with Belle could have even been an off-shoot from the lobby as well. And no waiting in line – you get to tour the castle until it's your turn to go in. Fabulous idea!

So what? Not every ride can appeal to every person. There is no such thing as an attraction that appeals to every one.

Sure there is. Everyone can enjoy Dumbo. Everyone can enjoy Peter Pan and POTC and Haunted Mansion and It's Tough to Be a Bug.....there area TON of rides that appeal to everyone.
But....lately Disney has been doing in the direction of .....appeal to the tots because they will cry and whine and beg mommy and daddy to go and and eventually spend money on..... Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirate's League, Storytime with Belle, and on and on.

wonder why they don't server a light breakfast in there to try to get more people in the door throughout the day

8-11 could be breakfast hours

I think I know why they don't do that. The line for lunch started well before noon when I was there.
Could you imagine the breakfast line and then people get into the breakfast line at around 10...are waiting for an hour and then the Staff have to have time for the switchover so that person will be waiting as it changes to lunch and will be ed for not getting breakfast.

It just creates a headache. So that one I can understand.

Like I said elsewhere in this thread.

Disney should have made the great hall of the castle for people to wait in and tour prior while they are waiting for their meal. You can even just wander in and look around and it would give the other guests a chance to at least see the inside of the castle if they don't want to eat there. As it stands now...it was poorly thought out.

Really? Everyone can? I can not stand Dumbo and the other spinners because spinning gives me motion sickness. My mother in law can't go on PotC because of the drop and will no go on HM because of the backwards portion after the attic scene. So you are incorect. There is not one attraction in WDW or any other theme park on the planet that appeals to everyone.

Wait what? I "tested" this out in May when i went and it was a disaster. I don't see how it's a fix. Here's a recap from my trip report.

So if this is their 'fix' I hope they actually fix it and not cause a bigger headache than necessary.

You were part of one of the first TEST groups of actual guests to see how the new system would operate. Key word, TEST. Did I mention TEST? The system does work. Trust me, I've done it too. They have been continuously updating the system when they discover a glitch. You can't fix a problem if you don't know that it's there until you have LIVE orders go through. Most of the time the restaurant is completely full, it's the ordering process where people can't decided what they want before hand or their kid takes 5 minutes to choose between apple juice or soda. Pre-ordering means that people know exactly what they are getting as soon as they get to the restaurant, so they can check-in and be looking for a table within about 5-7 minutes.

I agree. The problem isn't that BOG is awesome - it isn't. The problem is that it is perceived to be disproportionately better than anything else.
Time to build/re-theme a couple of other venues to take the heat off BOG. And you're right about starting with the Veranda and Tomorrowland Terrace.

Agreed. but Tomorrowland Terrace is just in an odd location and doesn't really scream "EAT HERE"! If given the choice between BOG or TT, I doubt anyone would choose the Terrace.

Now, Cosmic Ray's it up – maybe with Wall-E animatronics – and you'll get people flocking there.

Now you are nit-picking. If you get motion sickness that is a personal malady. Personal fears and issues don't count because everyone has an issue, but THOSE rides, and many like them CAN be enjoyed by everyone.

Until people who want everything stationary and slow complain enough to have Disney change all of the rides to appeal to the very small percentage who have problems with every ride.

Of course you miss my main point......Storytime with Belle...in a brand new expansion of the park....could have been incredibly magical the way Disney used to do it. Instead it is a bunch of adults standing around watching little kids....who may not even be theirs...put on plastic/cardboard props and act cute.

There is NOTHING magical or innovative about that. They do that kind of stuff in street performances in Epcot without having to wait over an hour to see it.

Bottom Line: Disney missed the mark.

Worst argument ever.

First off, it's QSR, you order and sit down at a table. Part of the dining is that you can choose where to sit and do not have a table assigned to you like TSR.

Second, go ask the CM's at Cinderella's Royal Table if you can go in to just "look around." Get back to me with their response. ;)

Why don't they just add the interactive menu boards with credit card swipers to the outside queue, along the bridge? At least it would give people something to do and would cutdown the wait time on food preperation as well.

The one time I was at BOG, ordering was definitely a HUGE problem. It took people a long time to order (even when they knew what they wanted).

Not nit picking at all. By your logic, every person should be able to ride RnRc, after all personal malady's and fears don't matter.

Have you ever even done Story time with Belle?

Yep - that's exactly what I meant by re-theme.
Wall-E would be more appealing to boys than Cindy and the princesses, and probably even BOG.

No, tons of people shouldn't be allowed to walk around the dining hall and look around while people are eating, but they could have designed a lobby with as much interest as the Great Hall, giving people plenty to do while waiting.

What he proposes would have been a great idea IMO.
