seriously, Kids will have no idea on the diffrences between the two. KIDS will not be nitpicking every little thing in the park and say "this doesnt look like the film" KIDS will love this whole area, resturaunt, Brew, Mermaid, Enchanted Tales. they will not Be Negative like half the members of this forum, who obvisouly just want to about something. "Boo Hoo" it doesnt look the same" "Boo hoo, Ursulas Death isnt Featured" yeah cause thats what we want to do in these rides, give kids a giant Death Scene to remember it by. You guys are Morbid. KIDS will not care about a Mermaid on front of a Shipwreck.

and guess who the primary audience is in FANTASYLAND

KIDS!!!

I also can't stand all the negativity around here regarding almost everything about the expansion, but your comment just doesn't work, sorry. We shouldn't judge the quality of the parks by a kid's point of view. A kid can have a ball just by playing in a sand pit. Doens't mean the sand pit is any good.

I would love for one person to name an attraction at any Disney park that is 100% identical to the movie it is themed after. This restaurant is phenomenal. I've been to Cinderella's, it's smaller, even more crammed and not as elegant as Be Our Guest. Nothing is ever an exact duplicate of a 2-dimensional movie, Disney did an incredible job with this space and it truly will be one of the most amazing dining experiences in all of Walt Disney World.

PS: To set the record straight, the Ballroom and West Wing are TSR for dinner. All 3 rooms including the elegant Rose Gallery will be open for guests to dine in during lunch. I almost feel bad for all of the trolls who only post negative comments, but then I realize how miserable they are in life. So have fun eating at Cosmic Ray's or Pinocchio's while the rest of us enjoy Be Our Guest! Au Revoir! ;)

WHICH IS WHAT MAKES MY QUOTE WORK

your right, a kid can have fun in a cardboard box. never once would he complain about the size, texture or shape

but an adult would

I really do not see how the two images match up. The drawing shows a large, open, domed area. The picture shows a squat space with a nearly flat ceiling. Not even a mildly successful attempt at using trompe-l'œil to create the illusion of a large dome.

I agree, for the most part, i dont post comments that often, nor do i troll. I sit back and just awe in the beauty and excitment of watching all of this be built and then unfold.

btw, I absolutely Love the Prime time cafe. and the theming in there is 70's Guad. but I still eat there, cause i love the atmosphere and Dads Firewater

PS
I was never a fan of Cosmic rays. for whatever reason. I always park hop, so I leave the parks during lunch and go to Port Orleans and have a Bacon BBQ Burger, spicy curly fries and a sasagula sundae mmmmm

Capturing a feeling is not the same as literal reproduction. The build ballroom matches some of the forms and ornaments but fails to capture the notion of a grand hall that soars above.

How does it work?
It's a restaurant. There's bound to be adults there.

Either way, I'm not looking to start a discussion here. I agree the ballroom doesn't look exactly like the one in the movie, but I'm happy with it. It could be better, of course, but I'm happy with it.

The as built room is clearly not square. Yes it has two flat walls but the end is nicely rounded so it doesn't feel like a box. The room in the movie actually appears oval, so all they did was flatten the sides. If a slight change is the shape of a room is going to ruin the experience for you then you clearly will never be happy. Also, the ceiling in the movie is no where near as domed as people seem to think it is. Check it out below. Yes, the as built ceiling is a little flatter, but I don't think the difference is that dramatic. As for the height of the room, I am not sure how that would have felt as a dining room. I think the lower ceiling may have actually been a better choice.

Where did I comment on the place being square? All the video shows is how immense the scale of the Ballroom actually is compared to the much smaller space that was built. The ceiling is not a little flatter, it is much flatter. If the height would have thrown off the dining experience, the Ballroom should not be a dining room.

Sorry, misread your post about, thought I read square. I still stand by the points I am making. I personally don't feel the real thing looks much flatter then the movie. If they didn't build the dining room, people would be throwing a fit because they left out the most iconic room in the movie.

P.S. I know I am not going to change your mind, just enjoying the debate. :)

This restaurant serves alcohol. Clearly, the target audience is not exclusively "kids".

Thank you, Steve, for sharing these wonderful photos. I think I may need some time to make up my mind as to how I feel about the design (and to experience it in person), but the photos are stunning none the less.

The Epcot Manifesto
I will not confess to know a ton about acoustics, but wouldn't a large domed room with high ceilings filled with as many families (kids) as they will be putting in here for QS meals turn into a huge noisy nightmare? Maybe I am wrong about that, but it seems like it would have been an issue.
Anyone know enough about acoustics to tell me how far off base I am on that?

I could be wrong but I doubt Hogwarts at Universal is an exact replica of the film version and yet we're constantly being told that is the standard to match. The photos look great and I imagine that Disney aren't worried by what will be the minute percentage of people who are unhappy that it's not an exact replica of what in essence never existed anyway. I'm sorry that those people are upset however to me it looks like they've done a great job of capturing the feel of the movie which is what most will want and many won't even care about. I suppose those who are going to compare pictures side by side would have still been upset had they been identical in every detail. I say this because to have an exact recreation of the movie you'd have to have it not be a restaurant as it wasn't a restaurant there was it?

It seems we've got to the stage where whatever Disney do to some it's the 'cool thing' to look for negatives however many positives there are there. Of coure everyone's enttled to an opinion and those who aren't happy with it are just as entitled to voice theirs as I am and each opinion is correct to that person. It appears to me that maybe some are trying a little too hard to find fault with things which is more of a shame for them than it is anyone else.

I'm kinda feeling the same as those who are seeing a dressy cafeteria area from these pics. But pics can be very limiting, so I won't write the whole place off entirely. This one room, tho, which is a representation of a ball room definitely feels flat, boxy, and lack-luster. I'm not feeling ballroom at all. It's like a standard rectangle with mood lighting. Not entirely grand. Are there other rooms and spaces that haven't been seen yet? I ask because when thinking about inside Cindy's a lot of the ambiance comes from the scattering of tables in different levels and defined areas. The ceilings are very high. The details draw the eye all the way up. It's not lighting tricks. It's what is there. This one dining room we're seeing at BoG falls flat. Literally. It's flat. It's a rectangle packed with tables. Nothing feels grand or amazing.

I agree completely with this. I felt the exact same way when seein the pics of the Library too. There is simply no sense of grandeur. In the case of the Library, it look like it's the den in any mansion, not a 4 or 5 story tall library in the Beast's castle. In this case, if you don't dome the ceiling, or at least attempt it with forced perspective, it just looks like a dining hall.

The thing I don't get is that these areas were built from scratch. It isn't like someplace that's being shoehorned into an existing building. So how could they not get it right?

People who argue that there should have been a ride instead of a restaurant should change their minds after seeing these pictures. :)

You're joking, right? Please tell me this is sarcasm.

People don't plan vacations or buy annual passes because of the restaurants at a theme park, they buy them for the attractions. While this is a very nice restaurant, it's still a restaurant.

I think the pictures look amazing!! Disney is very big on details and I think when people see it in person, it will be even better than the pictures. Don't judge by pictures alone, even though I happen to think they look "splendid, simply splendid."

I said in another thread how B&tB is my favorite movie and I don't care if my three sons and hubby kick and scream, we will be visiting this. Well, I stand corrected. I think my kids will love all of the knights and the splendor of the rooms. It looks very grand and really keeps the style of the movie.

Someone mentioned that there isn't a domed roof...maybe Disney didn't want people to feel that it was mimicing The Crystal Palace.

I'm not complaining at all here...I LOVE IT!!:D
