This seems like it's designed to replace things more easily. I don't like it, but it is what it is.

This is more of a corporate Disney store, that'll house not just Disney, but Star Wars, Fox, probably Marvel merchandise. I'm sure the more flexible nature of the store will definitely come into play here.

As discussed, the open layout, better flow, tile floor is a huge improvement. I'll miss the "rooms" and "Disney" feel. Now Disney is only a part of The Walt Disney Company and this is going to be the future, unfortunately. It'll be more correctly titled "The World of The Walt Disney Company Store". The Disney brand will still be a part of it, but not "the store".

It looks like a tap house.
My son, who loved Writer's Stop, hates the Baseline Taphouse. He said it looks like Costco with bricks (he's special needs, pays ATTENTION to detail, lol). So when you mentioned that it looks like a taphouse, I went back to the pics, and, yes it does. And he loved this store, too. The colorful whimsy may have been garish or out of date to some, but others cherished it for remaining unique and "Disney". When we go to Disney again in December, I am dreading his reaction.

You know what's funny?
yeah these stores used to be so much fun to enter and just look at, a magical shopping experience, now it just sucks. I have little interest to even go in anymore.

Dont know what they were thinking.

This could also show a new direction in some of the merchandise lines they release....or use this as an opportunity to do so.

Disney Parks Blog posted a video of the projections and other animation effects being added to the World of Disney stores when they reopen (Disneyland 26 Oct Disneyworld 27 Oct)

As in my previous post I agree with the Disney Blog and I personally like the uncluttered brightness and the new animated effects will add a lot more kinetic energy to the stores.

The video posted is quite literally at 3X speed. Don't know why.

Here's the YouTube version. Click on the gear and in speed you can choose .25 or .5 to see what normal speed looks like (even though the video is then jerky). Looks like compression only kept every third frame...

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot...

I guess I’ll be the one to say I love the new design. Disney clutter, which is all the old design was, does not appeal to me.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
This place will never not be packed with tourists.
Are you sure about that? So many people here and on Twitter seem to hate it, and have vowed to never step foot inside again. 😂

I like the new cleaner, brighter aesthetic better. I don’t see it as de-Disneyifing so much as de-cartooning. Those giant, in-your-face, brightly coloured props got to be too much, real fast. And that labyrinth of rooms ... total nightmare.

For the record, I am mostly in favour of the recent resort and dining refurbs too. I seem to be in the minority there also.

I’m with you, this design is totally my aesthetic. But I’m 27 so my opinion probably doesn’t matter.

My point is that it will be cluttered again, then it will just be a fresh designed store and no one will notice the little details. It's sill to think a redesign will push people out, but it definitely will not be something that people go in to look at.
