For people that complain somethings at Disney world are becoming Six Flagish, these were a prime example of that. I can go to six flags and drive boats like this anytime and trucks also. This was the biggest waste of space, time and money.
tell that to my kids! They will disagree with you. Small minds do not care how immersive the experience is, they just care about having fun and for them, this was a boat load of fun (pardon the pun).

DS6 wanted to play with these last time but we do not carry cash/change to the parks so for us this isn't a huge loss. It was neat seeing them sitting there though and knowing they were "classic." Still, something sitting just for the sake of sitting is a waste of space. I know some will argue that stroller parking is as well but let me just say this...

The pathways in Adventureland are relatively narrow and the lack of stroller parking often means that it's even worse around Aladdin's Carpets etc. because that's where the strollers landed. So maybe, since this is down and off to the side, the addition of some stroller parking will help alleviate congestion in the land a bit.

Trust me I'm the last person to be happy when a classic anything is removed in favor of stroller parking but in this case, I don't see a loss and can actually see a potential gain! Trying to stay positive! :D

Maybe they are reworking the whole area so that you would come out of the POtC show building cruise around the newly themed JC area (All pirate stuff) and some how work the tree house in as pirate island retreat (forget the name). Build up rock walls so the boat people can't see the park people and vice versa. The pirate movie's are in tropical locations most of the time, natives involved in some movies. Think about it, one massive pirate ride.
Interesting theory being that the old canal from the Swan Boats runs through there but, and I mean no offense, I seriously hope you're wrong. :)

Could this be the site of one of those "D-Zone" rest areas?

(Of course, I think the center of Adventureland where the Carpets are should be where a D-Zone goes...)

Felt like the boats fit in perfectly near jungle cruise. Sad to see them go and sad to see them being replaced by more stroller parking

I have played with those boats for as long as I can remember. Even know at almost 30 years old and countless trips, anytime I walked by them if there wasn't a line of Kids' I would go and play with them for a bit. Don't understand how it was a waste of space since it was in the water on the side of the walkway. I think the biggest waste of space in that area are those flying carpets. But Ill save that for another thread

By that logic, we could replace The Jungle Cruise with an empty cardboard box. The point of a Disney Park is immersion.

I agree, it is about immersion, but do you think a 5 year old kid knows the difference or better yet cares? If they do care, it is because the parents have made them aware of the difference. I have let my kids figure it out on their own. That is why my son can enjoy those boats just as much as he can enjoy Expedition Everest.

just what MK needs....more stroller parking. Ugh. Take away another little thing that makes MK special and add nothing. However, this does encourage 10 yr olds to continue using strollers.
You can find the same little boats at any Six Flags park; so not missing much here IMO
