It's better than say an obsession with Micky's tail...just sayin :)

Mine is Disney, really pricey 1911s and lots of history books (love the eBay)!

Other than that I don't spend a lot, cars, housing, clothes, restaurants etc....

Okay.... I'm going have a hard time getting that picture out of my head.

I bought an e-reader (upgraded to a tablet) because I was going to have to build an addition to my house to hold all the books I just cannot resist buying as I wander through B&N with no plans to buy anything. I'm with you on the books.

Speaking of Magicbands, I wonder if they will unite and add them to all parks, all disney, even DCL.
Then I would say it would be worth.. (a "one tool to enter them all, and identify them")

I bought a number of "ridiculous" accessories for mine, and if I was staying off property I would have bought the bands. Because I wanted them, I work really hard and long, make decent money so I splurge on WDW :) I mean we are paying (ALOT!) to enter a make believe land with rides, if we are ridiculous it's because of that, which makes us all guilty!

Again, my thoughts I am sure I am in the minority but I call it what it is.

Not sure what you read but I pick up WWII history books in hardback and paperback all the time on eBay for CHEAP most with free shipping :) I was a store manager for Waldenbooks back in 1994 to 1999, lots of books in my life as long as I can remember.

I like ebooks but for WWII books I just love the touch and feel of the pictures in a book, plus a lot are out of print and thus no ebooks on them.

Mainly history, especially medieval, some mystery & spy (give me a real Ludlum or Le Carre). Yes, I agree, nothing beats the touch and feel of a real book or the pictures - there are some I just have to have in the print form.

Very nice :) I like the spy novels as well, that and a bit of old school fantasy (Tolkien, Brooks and the like).

I think we might get the ole heave ho if we derail this thread anymore, I just "followed" you on the forum, first time I "followed" anyone on here :) Not sure how that works but I will find out!

See ya around!

Good lord, I'm not a next gen hater...but I really think this part is stupid...can you imagine the lines at these retail counters now? I'm guessing this won't be a quick process to link the ticket to band. Could be wrong though I guess.

Why not? All tickets in use at the parks should be RFID enabled (otherwise they couldn't have gotten in). CM taps ticket, then taps MB. Tada! Shouldn't take any longer than it does to add a MB to a SOTMK game.

Yup. Certain retail counters, such as the emporium and Mouse Gear, already get long lines. I realize they want the most exposure for these to get them into the hands of Park-goers, but there has to be a better location.

That's what bothers me about this, this isn't necessary at all. I worked WDW merchandise and all stores have at least one designated stocker (and Emporium has several) whose permanent job is to refresh shelves with new merchandise as guests buy them. "Running out on the shelves" is very rarely an issue; even the smallest of shelves with extremely high demand product will be continuously refreshed at a rate faster than guests can buy it. If Disney did this, it has nothing to do with ensuring supply and everything to do with the visual power of the display - which is disappointing because it means they truly have traded the intimate shelves of a turn of the century shop for further enforcing the arrival of MyMagic+.

Personally I don't see a need for a Magic Band if you are only a day guest. You don't get an extra benefit from it, well heck there is no real benefit even if you are staying on property.

They even have CMs outside stores advertising them! :banghead:

You can use MBs for SOTMK? Can you use the band as a portal key?

The main benefit I could see (besides some marginal convenience at the FP+ entrance to queues) is for Photopass. Personally, I thought using the MB for Photopass was a lot better than finding the card you might have especially if you want your hands free during the picture and then want to quickly scan it and move on. This extends to the ride photos which now are seemingless added to your account for later viewing instead of having to go up to the desk after the ride. Marginal benefit perhaps, but IMHO an improvement.

Also, longer term, there theoretically will be functionality associated with the MBs that you don't get from the RFID card -- stuff like the characters already knowing your name when you enter and the AAs on IASW saying hello to you. I think it is possible that some of the personalization in the future might be neat, but we'll see.

A few notes

Once used on a day ticket, can it be relinked for a future ticket? Or do you have to buy another Bagic Band for your next visit?

Are AP replacement bands still $50? Because if they are, that's funny.

Yeah i guess so. But we all know that the personalized end of things will be an added expense which is something i will not be paying for.
