I am slowly accepting FP+ however, the selling of MB is just stupid and a waste of money and anyone who purchases one should be embarrassed. For those staying on property - the MB is wonderful and streamless. However, I see no point in an off site guest (excluding AP) purchasing them - the RFID ticket enables all FP+ capability. What is the point?

Wee bit judgmental are we? You don't like them I understand that, but saying those that do buy them should be embarrassed? Why do you think that? If they want them that is reason enough. Heck mine won't even ship for a month more and I already have all the extra little clip on characters ready to go of them :)

Disney, the King of Marketing. Only Apple is better. I have 4 sets of the extras. To go with my collection of 20 ears in various forms. I think I need help. :geek:

I am such a Apple (insert expletive) ! But I am a long term Apple nerd. I did my time of "nothing Apple" in the computer stores, no software, no outside Apple support etc. Started in 1986 with a Apple IIc (Awesome!) and went thru the bad years with Apple (I did go with a Commodore Amiga for a while) and still with them today :) Now they are trendy and uber aftermarket support! I bought Apple stock at $22 a share and sold it at $45 thinking I was "Da Man"!, ouch ouch ouch.....I should have know better! It's what $800 now, or close enough!

Buy yeah Disney can market, and well......I admire them for their merchandsing skills :)

Yup, and my house is ground zero for that skill. It's now taught in B-school, along with Apple (and Microsoft, but not for the same reason - how to blow your market share would be that subject).

The nay-sayers say what they want. Try it out before you judge it and I bet you'll love it. I asked the cm that set up my magic band about the system. She said they've been working with the system for 2 years and it was just the beginning. (Shout out to Josh and Gina at the camera shop at Epcot for their help. Ridiculous how nice and helpful these guys were). The fact that Disney has already started selling them to everyone and the recent announcement that they are working on adding more than 3 FP+ selections AND allowing park hopping just shows that this is going to be the ONLY way in the future. I hope that there will be a next gen magic band with hopefully a small digital watch on it. I noticed when I was at the park I kept looking at my wrist (where the band is) for a time. It just came naturally. I felt something on my wrist, I automatically thought it was a watch. It would be good, being that you need to know what time it is for your FP+ times.

As I've said before, if Samsung can do it, why not Disney.

That's the "best" part. The only features that die with the battery are the tracking features (although some day they may put those features to good use, like at BOG and finding your table).

Ah, so there are some potential future advantages to having a band with a dead battery (for those worried over being tracked)...

It's true that how other people choose to spend their vacation money isn't any concern of you or me. However, in my opinion it is often a foolish purchase. For a family of, for instance, four people you are talking an additional charge of around $52 above and beyond the (already hefty) ticket prices, for something which your children may refuse to wear anyway after the first 15 minutes.

Looks EXACTLY like a turn of the century market!!!

Wow that is just terrible. It is way too much. Do they really need that many.

That's what bothers me about this, this isn't necessary at all. I worked WDW merchandise and all stores have at least one designated stocker (and Emporium has several) whose permanent job is to refresh shelves with new merchandise as guests buy them. "Running out on the shelves" is very rarely an issue; even the smallest of shelves with extremely high demand product will be continuously refreshed at a rate faster than guests can buy it. If Disney did this, it has nothing to do with ensuring supply and everything to do with the visual power of the display - which is disappointing because it means they truly have traded the intimate shelves of a turn of the century shop for further enforcing the arrival of MyMagic+.

I just think all of that is extreme. But you are staying on property. My argument is against those who stay off site. It is an absolute waste of money besides wanting to walk around with a band on like everyone. Granted, I am positive that people will fall into that trap of hoarding the gift shops buying bands for their families as well as the aptly ridiculous accessories that go along with them. Anything that disney can make money on they will and those that fall into the trap are buying into disney marketing. sorry - just my sentiments

LOL now that is funny. Samsung failed with their watch and the i-watch has been toiled for a few years now. Nice suggestion though :)

I bought a number of "ridiculous" accessories for mine, and if I was staying off property I would have bought the bands. Because I wanted them, I work really hard and long, make decent money so I splurge on WDW :) I mean we are paying (ALOT!) to enter a make believe land with rides, if we are ridiculous it's because of that, which makes us all guilty!

Mea culpa, mea culpa. I work hard, it's my money to spend and Disney is willing to help me part with it. I just wish I could put more accessories on my band, especially since I now have the AP slider to add. If only it were purple.....

I would imagine if we all posted what we spend our money on outside of Disney we could all get a chuckle from each others "bad choices"

I am wearing my MB swag with pride!

Yup. Since I gave up smoking a couple of years ago, gotta have some "bad" habit to replace it. And this one won't kill me. However, my obsession with ears might need some therapy... ;)

It's better than say an obsession with Micky's tail...just sayin :)

Mine is Disney, really pricey 1911s and lots of history books (love the eBay)!

Other than that I don't spend a lot, cars, housing, clothes, restaurants etc....

the magicbands would be cool if they added a WDW special section for Disney infinity or other extra things.
But as they are... who the hell would buy them?
