Will these have the guest's name written on the inside, like the ones you get at the hotels? That was a surprisingly nice feature, and came in really handy for my group

No the retail bands are right on there on the shelf and are not customized.

So is the intended market for these simply non AP holding, non on property staying, guests? As I assume those are the only attendees who would not have one for free? Quite a scam to add 12.95 to ones admission price and a good way to carve into the expense in rolling out MDE/NextGen.

I'm assuming that they'll eventually reduce the number of the "basic" colors displayed in order to put up the themed and decorated ones... I mean, do you really need 15 racks of red Bands?

I think we will be surprised at how many off-site guests buy these... kids especially like these things

Exactly. When it comes down to "Can I have (yet another) pin?" or "Can I have a magic band" Which one do you think will win?

Now they need to combine the MB with the pins :D

they kinda already have with the bandits... it's slowly catching on but no where close to the pins (yet)

I don't really get the point of selling Magic Bands???? It's like selling extra room keys or non functional tickets??????

Am I just missing something here????

I agree...I thought that they were given out free??? What are the costs of buying one?

Like most other things WDW or any other tourist attraction sells in their stores; they are souvenirs (that happen to have some sort of functionality if people want to link their tickets to them).

Wow. You weren't kidding about them being prominent...

That's quite a photo of the tremendous amount of display cases taken up by the MB's at the Emporium. Just curious what products or merchandise were displaced? It would be interesting to see a before and after shot. Seems like overkill to me. A simple carousel display would have been so much classier. :)

I still think Magic Bands should be a WDW resort hotel guest exclusive. I mean, they might make a little more money this way but, end game, having something "extra" to entice guests to drop the extra cash by staying on-site would have been smarter, IMO.
How about the extra perk be good transportation? We had our bands on the last visit and there wasn't too much perk about them. They were a little convenient for getting in the park and room but I see no need to make them exclusive to people who stay on site. I would offer them colors or styles but nothing more.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Just got ours in the mail. While we liked the old emh bands, these things are clunkers and will take some getting used to & breaking in as they do not form a natural oval shape on the wrist.

I can't imagine adding accessories to them to weigh them down and add more ridges to rub against the skin. Our AP sliders will remain in the box they came in.
You may, not in fact, get used to them.

We had them for 10 days this fall, and mine irritated me in the worst way. Neither my SIL or niece had this same problem.
I have very large, but bony wrists, and there is no give to the MagicBands.

Hope your experience is better.

Do they really need that many.

My guess is by putting a large number on the shelves they want to create a perception they are in high demand.

But with hotel guests already getting them for free, how many day guests do they realistically think they can sell them to?
