I must say, I think the spreading out is great. But dang that is ugly. Why wouldn't you have "tested" the locations prior and had the permanent structures in place for "go-live".
Plus, I cannot believe they are doing this right before spring break!!! baaahahahaha.

People already can't go thru a baggage line after seeing 200 people go thru, much less a short little line.

Not to mention, some people bring half of their luggage with them. How is that enjoyable at a park.

When you look at older pics of the parks, hardly any strollers and folks carried small bags with them. Nothing massive like now. Heck, did they even have stroller parking areas in the 70s??

This is the test. How else would you have them do it? Also, doing it now has the benefit of knowing what works during the crowded times. Better to know now if that works, rather than test at a slow time, and find out it is completely inadequate for busy times.

I just hope that they remove the structures in front of MK, since they aren't using them anymore.

Until it is determined it is not cost effective and then it is only spread out at peak season times. Slow season - goes back to the booths that are already in place. lol

How do they handle security when you park at Epcot and Monorail to the TTC? Is the Epcot Station at TTC inside security?

Looks like you've found the weak link. Unless they install security at the entrance to the monorail at Epcot. I know @marni1971 said Epcot would be next, but in the meantime there doesn't seem to be anything in place ???

Right now as you exit the monorail at Epcot you then go through security. To board the monorail at Epcot you're already inside the "secure" area.

The entrance to the EPCOT Monorail station is behind the EPCOT security checkpoint. They're talking about reconfiguring the security there because the station currently exits outside of the secured area.

I wonder if they could reverse the entrance/exit to/from the monorail? That would mean exiting past the security line. Of course, it wouldn't help the entrance with a redo of the area. So I guess a redo no matter what is in store.

Maybe they could simply push the security check to outside the monorail exit, to check incoming buses, and then add security for the trams out front.

This is kind of geared towards those who are somewhat complaining or questioning all of this ... Is it really all that much of a hassle for your proposed safety (whether you actually think it's for your safety or not, it could very well stop SOMETHING some day, but let's hope it doesn't even need to come to that; we all know anything can happen, we just have to live our lives) and park hopping to go through another security line? The odds of it being packed are probably going to be slim with all of these procedures in place. It no doubt will take you a minute or two, if that. The impact will hopefully be minimal and you go about your day and park hop and resort hop.

Really? Lol, I'm now seriously struggling to picture things. I know the exit ramp from the monorail comes down and you then go through security. So exiting the park you go up the ramp before the exit to the trams? It just shows, I haven't paid attention! It's been over 10 years since I stayed offsite and usd the parking lot.

Right, so if you parked there, you would have to go through security and then up to the monorail. Hole plugged, my bad lol!

The Universal system surprised even me for its efficiency at peak times. The shear amount of open lanes, each with a dedicated bag scan and arch was great to see. And made standing lines non existent.

Personally I'm just looking forward to getting a photo of the MK tiled mural outside the park with no one stood on it again.

I think Universal had it down better, but at 9am at park opening, it seemed a tad messy to me (to be expected) and they kept moving the scanners (but they also had members with wands to wave you through without a bag which I much appreciated), and the lines weren't exactly clear but that "blame" could be on either the guests or those running security. But that was at least two months ago. I personally got through fast but it didn't look as organized as you'd expect. But that's just it, they figure it out as they go along. I'm not saying they did a bad job. Just my observation at the time.

As you leave Epcot (from the right side exit as you face the exit) the ramp to the monorail will be right in front of you. To your left will be tram loading / ticketing, to your right will be a Joffrey's shop and the exit to the parking lot. On that side there is also an alternate bag check spot. You're still within the bounds of security until you pass the bag checks and exit to the parking lot.
