I hate to say it but that looks pretty crappy. Not what I was expecting at all!

It looks like the little play area at my local Westfield Mall.

Hopefully there is more to it than what they are showing cause that looks like there is nothing for "kids of all ages" to do in there besides sit and listen to a 100 screaming kids run around.

I completely agree. The rest of the circus was pretty impressive, but the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the pictures was, "That's incredibly crappy looking."

I'm really, really surprised.

I will refrain from saying anything because someone might lash out at me.

I will ask if Dumbo is stationary though because the except from the blog says that he's "flying high above" or something like that...but he looks like he might just be stationary...

So how long will ride operators wait for people to dig their kids out of the play area and report to the ride?

Seems like this could really slow down things unless they call riders back to queue 1-2 'spins' before their actual turn.

I also wonder if they are only going to allow entry to those with buzzers. Otherwise I could see it getting very crowded with people just wanting to get out the sun or parents who want to let their kid play while they take a break.

This is why I don't really like all these "interactive" queues. Disrupts the regular queue flow by people who want to stop and play.

I don't know, with 2 small children, my first reaction was that this is the greatest thing I've ever seen! I think it looks much more fun and well done than a local mall play area by miles, the lights, the burning building, etc. I guess I'll be in the minority, but this looks miles above what I was expecting. I guess I was expecting a few touch screens in a wide open room.

Hmmm...first impression isn't all that great. As already stated, looks like nothing more than your typical mall playground. Apart from the waiting benches, I didn't see anything in those pics that would appeal to anyone over the age of five.

And I hope there is some sound absorbing material in the ceiling or that tent, when filled with screaming children, is going to make Pooh's queue seem downright serene.

This was my first thought. Sounds like it is adding way more confusion to the situation.

The seating area did also look like the local mall to me as well.

I agree, although my kids are getting too old to benefit from it.

And knowing how Disney operates they won't let this slow down the ride. They'll call plenty of people to the line far enough in advance that they won't be holding up the ride for some toddler who can't tear himself away from the playground.

I think people should at least keep an open mind about it until they've seen it and experienced it, and also recognize that some things at Disney are meant for young kids. This is the Dumbo ride, after all.

See, I completely understand this point of view. I get that there are things that are for kids.

But at the same time this mentality can't be an excuse when they hype up what looks to be a glorified McDonald's play place.

My worry is the tent area looks pretty small and cramped. When this concept was first unveiled, it was misleading the way they said "and guess what? No queue!". Seems to me you'll probably be waiting more time to enter the tent then you'll spend in the tent before your ride. At least it would appear to have to be this way to avoid overwhelming congestion inside. I already have a headache thinking about how this will look and sound when it's full of children:zipit:

I will withold judgement for now until I can see greater detail. Two pictures that are incomplete...
One thing I thing that put it into perspective to me is that when you enter the Storybook Circus you are also stepping back in time. It is not supposed to be 2012 but the 1930s/40s in a small town!

I have been frequenting this site since 2005, and I have to say I am a little embarrassed for most folks who post here.

Either you have ridiculous expectations or you just like to complain (my personal vote). This is a ride's queue. In this time of a terrible global economy, I am extremely impressed with the level of effort and spending that Disney has been exhibiting on a global scale. Did I mention that this is a RIDE'S QUEUE!

I have been going to WDW since 1981 (20+ trips). Although I have seen a few things over the years that are disappointing, my experiences consistently exceed expectations. Have any of you actually been to the parks over the last 3 decades? Do you have a baseline to compare too? Or is it just easier to complain from your PC? Honestly, I would prefer that you all stop going to WDW. It will help with the crowds during my trips.

I am just very confused where the interactivity is in all of that other than you can sit in a little fire truck.

I am wondering this as well. I was almost expecting (and not sure where I got this notion) that we would be entering the Big Top and some sort of quasi-interactive mini circus would be going on in the center of the tent while the queue loops around or between the show(s).

Like I said, I don't know where exactly I was getting that impression, I don't remember if there was concept art for the inside of the tent awhile back. I was, however, expecting more than just another play zone...they have one of those 100ft away with Casey Jr.

I am usually pretty tolerant on the rampant negativity on these boards, but this is just ridiculous. I can't believe people are condemning this after seeing just two pictures.

As to the size of the queue, I have to think it's bigger then it appears in these pictures.

I agree wholeheartidly. Show me a photo of a better concept anywhere for 'waiting in line for a children's ride' !

This was my thoughts exactly! I kind of thought i would be an interactive mini circus.

I daresay, I like it. It's simple and small-scale, and I believe my kids (aged 3 and 5) would go nuts for it, at least for 15 minutes or so -- just enough time to make the queue a breeze instead of a hassle. Given the amount of space and the fact that this area is geared toward toddlers, I wasn't really expecting anything more elaborate than what I see in the pictures.

I have to agree. Honestly, I only check in here briefly each day because the amount of complaining and negativity is insane. Those that are negative will only see negative.
