PHOTOS - Inside the interactive indoor queue set to open in July at Dumbo

I guess they could have gone with the alternative and allowed you to stand outside in the heat while you go back and forth on concrete switchbacks. This is something that they didn't need to do and in my mind blows away waiting outside for an hour (especially if you have little kids). Ask parents with kids that are the target for this ride and I bet that 9/10 or more will be thrilled that this is now available.

I can understand the skepticism, but after reviewing the pictures again, this indoor area looks huge and looks like there is a ton to do in there. It looks like there is a spiral staircase that goes up to a second floor of interactive elements and there are like sections with games in them. I think this area will be pretty impressive. Yes I know it looks like a mall play area, but I think when people are actually there , it will seem like so much more.

Oh, I completely agree it's better than simple switchbacks, and it's a great idea.

The execution is lacking, unfortunately.

As for the people who complain about complaining, I expect a high level from my theme parks. If something doesn't meet that, I'm going to say something about it. If you don't like it, too bad.

At first glance this appears to be on par with some of the other interactive queues. It's about what I expected and it looks like a step in the right direction over switchbacks. We won't know for sure until more details are out, but I think the disappointment came from this being a significant part of Rasulo's announcement at the 2009 D23 expo.

I don't have a comment on the new indoor queue, but I will say that the outdoor queue for the new Dumbo was a much more pleasant experience than the switchbacks at the old location. Just the fact that the new queue is much wider and open made the wait much more tolerable. With or without the new interactive set-up, the new Dumbo queue gets two thumbs up from me.

We know that there are two separate entrances going into the tent (fastpass/standby). Are their Fastpass machines anywhere near Dumbo or will Fastpass not be used until Fastpass+ begins?

But at the same time this mentality can't be an excuse when they hype up what looks to be a glorified McDonald's play place.

Fair enough - the marketing folks these days tend to oversell everything, & WDW is no exception.

In Casey's defense you can't get wet in Dumbo's play areas, nor can you get counted as "waiting in line" while at Caseys. Each play area has its purpose.

However, I can see kids wanting to keep playing inside instead of riding Dumbo, or getting in line for Dumbo, then seeing the play area and get stuck there instead while the parents try to get him/her on the ride. I wonder if they'll just close off the area entierly if the wait is less than a certain point (say 15-20 minutes).

I also feel the design is lacking, especially when compared to the look outisde and other Disney exmaples of themed queues and play areas.

Wow! A few photos of something not in use yet and everybody who hasn't actually used it yet or even really know how it will work have condemned it.

:brick:

Like everything else in the FLE, why not experience it before judging it? Novel concept, I know...

Let me get this straight...

Some of you were expecting a mini-circus beneath that big-top, where children got to sit down and stare at something for 20-30 minutes? Oh, joy. How wonderful (and genius of you to imagineer) a kid that can't keep still for a minute being made to sit and watch static/animatronic acts in the three rings while his Appleby's pager went off?

And how embarrassing for anyone over the age of ten to be complaining about this at all! It wasn't built for 20, 30, 40 year-olds. Little kids see a fire truck and a swinging ball and they'll play with it. Anything they're given to do now is more than they had eight months ago, standing beneath a crappy awning in 95 degree humidity. Stop humiliating yourselves by saying this looks bad. It's a glorified waiting room. It was never going to be more than that.

Geez, I go on vacation for six months and come back and the little girls on this website are still uncorking their whine...

I have no problem with calling out Disney when something it bad, for example I still don't like how visible the back of the Dumbo queue building is. My problem is people complaining when they don't have enough information to make a informed judgement.

So now visually seeing it isn't enough info?

Listen, I wasn't expecting this to be anything uber amazing or for me at all. But I was expecting it to at least look Disney quality like the rest of the circus, not like something at a fast food location.

(And for the record, the showbuilding doesn't bother me all that much)

I have no issues with the design itself. My DD will probably love playing in here.

My only curiosity like I said earlier is about how Disney plans to keep this "non-linear" queue and ride moving at pace.

Things like "will they wait for everyone or how long do you have to get in line", "what happens if you do miss your ride? get the next spin or do you 'go back to the end of the line'?", "What if someone just takes buzzer and leaves, forgetting they actually have it." (I'm sure it'll happen!).

It's a brand new style of queue for a WDW ride so I'm curious how it'll work and keep things moving smoothly.

I am condeming this in no way, I guess as other people said I had some ideas built up in my head about interactivity. All I said earlier was that base don the two pictures I don't see much that show interactivity. I am open minded about it for sure, I just thought if they were going to release pictures for somethign opening in a month that is completely based on interactivity they would have show us something within the tent that shows how this tent is going to be interactive.

Not exactly what I was expecting. I was thinking more along the lines of Innoventions or the SSE post show with a circus theme, not a playground.

Definitely. But even Rasulo was hyping this as some revolutionary breakthrough back in '09 when it was announced.

Not waiting in a switchback queue is revolutionary. Instead, kids can run around while you wait your turn to be paged. This looks awesome. This sounds awesome. Bravo Disney for taking what was arguably the worst line in all of WDW and making it one of the best. Yet you still complain...

Yes, sitting in a queue waiting while my kids have fun without me and listening to the wailing of other brats around me. That sounds like one of the best queues in WDW.
