The cast member who rang me up told me the official opening is tomorrow morning at park opening. Anyone going? My wife wants that Dooney & Bourke!

Just as a heads up for you and anyone else looking for the Dooney and Bourke purses: I popped in the store yesterday and asked about them while the CM rang me up. He told me that they aren't carrying them there. Instead, they're being sold in the jewelry store on Main St. with the rest of the D&B.

Today's the first day - they're only allowing a limited amount of people in at a time and there's a long line already, right after park open.

Nothing new if you've been to WWoHP close to when it opened. Could Disney be trying to capture the same thing with this shop? Most likely yes.
When I went on Thursday night, it was a pretty decent line to get in and I waited a good half an hour or so....and I'm trying recall the amount of space inside to when it was before. There is a corner of the store taken up by the photo booth area that has an old fashion looking camera. So it was a little tight in there and I don't see during normal to high crowd level days how they're going to control the amount of people jamming into there.

There were some roaming CMs in the line talking to us, and they were looking for feedback...I mentioned how it's good to see more park/ride specific merchandise, and I kinda got the idea back that that's the direction they're going to now instead of mostly generic Parks merchandise.

For people asking about the merchandise, just got this email and it seems like they just added most of it to the site.

I can't tell for sure, but it seems like this all mostly new merchandise from the new store.

God, they're all so awesome. Especially that Hatbox Ghost tee. I've gotta have that for Halloween!

working in the promotional products industry, specifically embroidered and screen-printed items, this shirt makes me cringe when i look at it. the design is simple and cool. looks great on the red shirt.... however, what makes me cringe is the placement of the design on the shirt. it is sitting pretty low on the shirt. it will end up around the belly area, possibly have some of the bottom tucked in (for those who are tuckers LOL :D )... i would be hard pressed to lay down the money for that shirt...

Except for the fact it's the back of the shirt....

Just grabbed the photos of my camera from yesterday. This was the line to get into the shop:

mk-hm-shop-line-oct514.jpg

It stretched back a good bit and as you can see, they had everyone going in the side entrance only. I probably waited about 10-15 minutes. Even though they were limiting the number of people in at a time, it was still PACKED and you had to just sorta queue up to get to the next display or see the next items.

Getting hopeful that this sends a message to TDO.

Pretty much EVERYONE had the opinion that (a) this was awesome (b) Disney needs more dedicated shops like this and (c) shut up and take my money! :p

Well... I'm certainly all for it, but HM is ridiculously popular and gothic themed items have a certain niche beyond the interest in that particular ride. Point being that if TDO were to do similar shops and expect similar enthusiasm, I think they'd tend to be disappointed with the results.

More dedicated merchandise is a good thing though.
