The new paint on the castle is astonishing. It looks the best it's looked in 49 years!! A fairytale castle shouldn't be drenched in ugly grey tones, it needs to be bright and colorful. Yet another home run by Disney!
Are you 14??

The castle has a classic look with the grey/blue tones...

Because Disney makes cartoons...doesn’t mean they have to make everyone look like it’s meant for Disney junior.

What’s your views on princesses in Epcot?

So I haven’t really given my opinion yet on the castle, so here it is.

Do I love it? No. Do I hate it? No. Do I think it looks great? No. Do I think it looks horrible? No. To the people who say that this is the worst castle makeover ever (not just people on here, but other people on Twitter & Instagram), take a look at the pepto bismal cake castle (WDW’s 25th) and the toilet paper Stitch castle. Oh, take a look at the “Happiest Celebration on Earth” castle too. So yeah, take a look at those then get back with me. To the people who think that this is the greatest castle makeover ever, it’s not. It’s so-so.

This is pretty much the same makeover that Sleeping Beauty castle at DL received last summer, which I think looks very good, probably because the castle already had a little bit of a pinkish look to it, but I don’t like the look on Cinderella castle. Like most people, my biggest issue is with the pink. It just doesn’t look right imo. In terms of the gold, it doesn’t really bother me. I get that it probably does make the stone look a little tacky up close, but from a distance, it looks fine. What I do like is that the turrets/towers finally got a much needed fresh coat of paint. They looked very faded out prior. I will admit though that every picture I’ve seen since the paint job, the turrets/towers always look a different shade of blue, so I’m not sure which shade to expect to see in person. But anyways, I do think that the turrets/towers look good.

So yeah, that’s my opinion. I know it’ll look better (hopefully) after some time in the FL sun, but it’s not the makeover that I would’ve liked to have seen. I’d rather have something similar to the treatment that Cinderella castle in Tokyo received earlier this year. Oh well, this is what we got. I guess it’s more Disney, more family, more timeless, and more relevant. Right? @realBobChapek ;)

The trees really aided the view down Main Street and it’s a shame they’ll never return.

I made this a while back (5 years ago apparently...) to see how the castle would look with Disneyland sized trees and it works:

Paris looks fine without trees because of how the castle is framed, as does Tokyo. I’d also argue Disneyland would look fine without trees (not that I’d want them taken down), but the way Cinderella Castle was designed in conjunction with Main Street requires them in my eyes. They helped reveal the castle beautifully, and without them the park has lost a lot of the magic it once had. It also doesn’t help there’s a tacky stage in front of the castle either...

The tree's really do help, such a shame that its practically sparse now. i get that it's all for better viewing angles of the show/fireworks in the evening but meh...

After seeing it in person I have a positive opinion of it. It doesn't look bad at all, but if I could return to that 71-06 color scheme I would in a heartbeat, along with the return of trees. MK has changed a ton in my lifetime and I'm one of the younger members here. I miss the hub feeling like a park. That feeling was lost for good when the Plaza Rose Garden area was removed, in my opinion. Too much concrete now, although I enjoy the trees they do have on the sides of the new hub, especially when they're lit at night. If they were ever to bring the hub trees back (slim chance) I'd also like to see them planted around the flagpole in town square, instead of small ones that they never let grow.
