So I haven’t really given my opinion yet on the castle, so here it is.
Do I love it? No. Do I hate it? No. Do I think it looks great? No. Do I think it looks horrible? No. To the people who say that this is the worst castle makeover ever (not just people on here, but other people on Twitter & Instagram), take a look at the pepto bismal cake castle (WDW’s 25th) and the toilet paper Stitch castle. Oh, take a look at the “Happiest Celebration on Earth” castle too. So yeah, take a look at those then get back with me. To the people who think that this is the greatest castle makeover ever, it’s not. It’s so-so.
This is pretty much the same makeover that Sleeping Beauty castle at DL received last summer, which I think looks very good, probably because the castle already had a little bit of a pinkish look to it, but I don’t like the look on Cinderella castle. Like most people, my biggest issue is with the pink. It just doesn’t look right imo. In terms of the gold, it doesn’t really bother me. I get that it probably does make the stone look a little tacky up close, but from a distance, it looks fine. What I do like is that the turrets/towers finally got a much needed fresh coat of paint. They looked very faded out prior. I will admit though that every picture I’ve seen since the paint job, the turrets/towers always look a different shade of blue, so I’m not sure which shade to expect to see in person. But anyways, I do think that the turrets/towers look good.
So yeah, that’s my opinion. I know it’ll look better (hopefully) after some time in the FL sun, but it’s not the makeover that I would’ve liked to have seen. I’d rather have something similar to the treatment that Cinderella castle in Tokyo received earlier this year. Oh well, this is what we got. I guess it’s more Disney, more family, more timeless, and more relevant. Right?
