There have been PLENTY on Train 12 photos taken in shop, even I have a bunch, but don't expect any of them to be placed online.

Though I would like to see them, I am not EXPECTING you to automatically post these pictures... I will be happy enough when Peach starts testing...

The resort monorail did not change for the Grand Floridian, the routes were well established by that point. The only time they operated differently was very early on in the early 70's

Interesting. How exactly did they operate early on in the 70's? Did the Express and Resort just run in opposite directions?

My first trip wasn't until the 80's and by that point they operated as they do today. That's interesting that they used to operate differently when WDW first opened. What was the reason for the change, and when exactly did the change occur?

I've always heard stories about the Express line and the Resort line running the opposite directions (on the same beams, just the other way), but honestly I've never believed them.

Did the monorails actually run the opposite direction back in the 1970s?

I've heard that they used to change the direction of express midday to take people back faster, also heard this would create situations for monorail drivers to race each other. The two beams going in opposite directions makes the most sense as it cuts down on confusion of if the train the driver sees is one he is following or on the other track. Using prerecorded spiels requires a consistent direction otherwise you would have to have spiels for both directions.

Also the MAPO system operates slightly differently when the trains are going in the opposite direction of travel than normal. I mean the basic premise is the same but the hold points are going to be slightly different because of the location of the transmitters on each train. (I am sure you know all this as well, just for the people who aren't familiar.)

Yes that's true as well, of course that system didn't exist back then.

There's a video clip that exists from the first year or two that WDW was open, with a reporter standing outside the Contemporary and you can see two trains behind him only seconds apart, one on each beam, going the same direction (Contemporary toward the TTC).

The video clip was shown on the old WDW Explorer PC game, but I believe it was a 60 Minutes reporter.

EDIT: Here's the clip, showing the Express train going the "wrong" way.

Has the unpainted Peach been out on the ''open beam'' yet? Can't wait to see it do what it hasn't done for 2 years...

Peach (still unpainted but looking stunning in all white) was moving down the Spur line tonight under its own power. it was beautiful to see!

Has anyone seen it tonight?? I think it's great it's moving under it's own power now!!

When pictures show up, we will definitely be able to differentiate unpainted Peach from unpainted Teal... Pictures would be nice, XD

This morning I was in the north service area and "Peach" was about 90% out of the garage. It was still completely white, but appeared to be operational. It's also still missing some of it's "accordions" between cars.
