Last night at my Fantasyland Preview, I had 8:40pm reservations at Be Our Guest. As I was being seated my seater asked if I knew who Phil Holmes was. The normal person would say no, but I said yes! But last night Phil Holmes along with many other Disney officials were in the Be Our Guest Restaurant enjoying dinner :)) he moved too fast for pictures, though :/

I had to Google the name to be sure, but....

How very sad that the Vice President in charge of a theme park is seen so rarely in said theme park that it generates an Internet discussion when he is seen eating in the fancy new restaurant in said theme park. :(

Just very sad that's the type of management Magic Kingdom Park has. Or is it perhaps all of Walt Disney World theme park executive management that's like that, and Mr. Holmes is just no different than his peers?

Just to clarify/elaborate on this point in a different way in case you thought he was the Vice President of The Magic Kingdom although the label is Vice President Phil Holmes-Magic Kingdom Park, it actually means that is HIS park to lead. As the way it works there is a WDW President and than a Vice President is the leader for each park in the resort.(which only makes it more sad)

I can't help but wonder if he came to check out his painting.
It's just too much. What's next? A Partners & Phil statue in the hub?

I think the reason people find it surprising that he was seen, is because he is really only seen in the parks on business and surrounded by his entourage. (Same with Meg. And Rasulo who always looks like he wants to take a shower after being in the parks.)
Who ever sees him in the park on his own time, just there for fun? Even taking his family to the park?

Then you have a Ouimet, who regularly visited his park without entourage or nametag. Sometimes with his kids, sometimes not. Often standing in line with guests or eating from a counter service restaurant.
THAT is what a park VP needs to be doing.

Yep. That's what Walt always wanted his employees to do...to go to Disneyland and keep tabs on ride and attraction quality, and also watch and listen to the guests. And of course Walt himself was a frequent visitor, and occasionally stayed overnight (in that apartment over the Fire Station). Pity more TDO execs apparently aren't following Walt's example...on a lot of things.
