I found a new home for all my random stuff! In the future, I will post all my random off-topic stuff here. I have nothing to talk about right now; but, when I do, this is where it will be posted. Knowing that I usually have lots to say, it will probably be real soon!

First rule: Nothing is off-topic here, unless it is deliberately meant to throw the conversation off in a negative or antagonizing way.

So Peter, what are your thoughts on global warming?

Jimmy Thick- ?
My thoughts on global warming...

It's hard to talk about this without getting political. Unfortunately, the parties have taken sides on science. Science and politics should always be separated. Like church and state.

There's been global warming since the last ice age. It's been caused by natural processes. As humans migrated throughout the World over hundreds of thousands of years, forests have been depleted. For example, Australia was once a big forest. As these forests have been depleted, the natural process of absorbing carbon has lessened. That resulted in speeding of global warming. This could have lead to the destruction of major civilization (pre 12,000 years ago) such as Atlantis (if it existed).

The Industrial Age saw a sharp rise in carbon and global warming.

Global warming actually means climate change. Climate change has periods of extremes, both cold and hot, as well as super storms (such as the one that hit NY recently).

Global warming isn't always bad. More of the Earth is nice to live in now because of global warming.

NYC has a plan on how to grow and adopt to rising sea levels caused by global warming. Florida needs to come up with a plan like that. Right now, the state is in denial.

Meanwhile, sea levels increase 2 mm a year.
