Peter's thread of random, interesting, thought-provocative and sometimes entertaining stuff

It's about this girl who is a rather eccentric character. She's smart, a talented writer and photographer, she's the editor of her high school year book. She also believes in ghosts and she's obsessed with proving to the world that ghosts are real. She persuades three of her friends (her best friend, a gothic female loner, and two guys who are complete opposites) to spend the night with her camping out at a cemetery. Her idea: to capture ghosts on film. I'm not telling what happens!

I hope you all are interested in this project. Disney got started because of the movie business, so its loosely related. And there are ghosts in the Magic Kingdom! Lol

Who knows, Disney may even make a distribution deal, if it's good! I did study screen writing at UCF. I think I may do an okay job directing. I have a unique style with the 3D that I want to experiment with that I don't think anyone else directing it would have a vision for...

For a good idea of what my inspiration for this project is, watch Wind Chill and the Blu-Ray (the European theatrical release is the same) version of 1408.

Both movies are about ghosts and make great use of a limited number of characters in a limited number of settings and keeps you in suspense from beginning to end.

Wind Chill only has two characters and the whole movie takes place mostly in a car. 1408 has one main characters and several auxiliary characters, and takes place mostly in a hotel room.

EDIT - In my story, no one dies, though there are several close-calls. It has a happy ending in that everyone survives and the drama causes unexpected good to out of the whole situation that certain characters said would never happen.

EDIT AGAIN - I forgot to mention Breakfast Club as one of my inspirations. One room for the entire movie and just a few characters. Some of the character traits in my characters are inspired by traits of those characters.

Wow, just realized... a lot of my personality is in that story - not intentionally. Like the main character's quest to prove ghosts are real (my quest to prove monorail footers are real). The story's upbeat and optimistic ending, in the face of gloom and doom... How statements of the "impossible" sometimes become possible....

Peter, if you don't mind me shifting the discussion back to monorails (but just briefly, though) I'd like to share a monorail-related tidbit that I just found out about.

Surprisingly, back in 2003, there was a proposal for Massachusetts to build a monorail to run down the median on Interstate 93, to routes 24 and 140, (from Boston, down to the southeastern part of the state) Another monorail proposal, around that same time, included a monorail to run down the median of the Massachusetts Turnpike, from Boston to Springfield, (western part of the state).

After a $10,000 study (for the MA Turnpike proposal), it was determined that there would be too many engineering difficulties, with obstacles such as existing bridges and overpasses. Also, they couldn't build stations for passengers to board in the middle of a highway; so, it would involve costly land-taking for spurs into places where stations would be convenient. An average/high monorail speed of 35 mph (again, the study was from 2003) would not be fast enough. And, monorails don't run well in snow and ice. In conclusion, maybe monorails should only be constructed in warmer climates, and in locations that haven't been built up as much as older parts of the country. Therefore, WDW is the ideal location for a monorail system!
