always surprised to see how long of a wait it is to go on this ride. a classic, but I couldn't wait 50-60 minutes for it. usually fastpass it.

It's a mystery why this ride get's the longest wait for a dark ride on both Coasts...I mean the same concept is used on the E.T. Adventure does that even get a long wait?

I'm not sure about DLR, but at MK isn't this the oldest ride of its type? Maybe it stays so popular because people remember it from their childhood and want their kids to experience it as well?

I know that I have two fastpasses for it for our trip in June lol

Pan and Small world I think are the oldest 2 in FL..

That's what I was thinking... but Small World has the song going over and over so for most it's probably a once and done per trio type of thing, whereas I would be happy to ride Peter Pan more than once each day if I have time lol.

Just a theory.

I'd also venture, it's the BEST of the non-boat dark rides, with all its old-school Walt-era appeal.
It's more in keeping with the movie--I don't quite get the point of "riding through" Pinocchio or Monsters Inc., but flying over London....

I'd also wager to guess, it's the sole subconscious reason Armchair-Imagineer fanboys keep insisting that every single solitary movie be turned into a dark-ride "pageant" of the movie's plot.
Frozen, Shmozen, you just want another Peter Pan. :D

I agree that I think part of the reason is because it is a story / movie that many folks remember from their childhood and have a sentimental attachment to, including me!

Love Peter Pan since repeatedly riding it at DL in the late 80's with my youngest daughter. Always FP it at WDW. I've never walked on this ride but I've only visited during very busy times at the parks. I seriously love the music to this ride.

I know it's been consistently popular for a long time now (and I've always loved it- the flight over London is magical), but for my DS, he first knew Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Smee from Jake and the Neverland Pirates (although Peter Pan is now his favourite Disney movie anyway). A younger generation is kind of being reintroduced to them through the popularity of Jake.

Yeah, guess I didn't think about the "Jake" aspect. That could explain it, but I seem to remember long lines even before that show. It's one of my favorite rides, but I often skip it due to that crazy wait. That, and one of my sons is too scared to try it, but he'll eventually catch on. Finally got him to do Test Track on his last visit, which he was petrified to try, and ended up loving it.

Yep, it's a much slower loader than people think and with a relatively low capacity.

^^this

Plus FP totally destroys the load rate. If you are ever in line towards the loading area you can see that any headway made in the stand by lane is obliterated when they stop to load FP holders. This is one ride that either should have no FP or a vastly lowered FP distribution IMO.

Quoted for truth. Same as TT, TSM etc. etc.

Not much chance of this with the plastic bands is there?

I'll second this. Its the most faithful to the flow of the story and doesn't rush the rider to and from plot points.

Don't forget the omni stops for handicap riders to enter and exit.

PPF is one of the rides you must always get a FP for, it's one of the shortest rides in the park and has the worst standby line, usually 60-90 min. It's not worth the wait in standby, you're cattle in a hot pen, lining up for the slaughter.

There are so many other rides (some with interactive queues in the standby) that deserve the longer wait.

Totally agree here, this is one of those rides where the wait would probably never be over 30 minutes if they would get rid of FP!

Not really. It's always had long wait times, even before the original FP. The problem is capacity and load rate. There are sites showing the schematics of the ride track. It's relatively short and can't accommodate many cars (ok pirate ships) at one time. FP doesn't help the situation but isn't the source of the problem
