Sadly it isnt just Disney, its everywhere. People in general dont have the sense of responsibility and pride in their surroundings that they use to have. Disney used to be exceptionally clean and it was rare to see the smallest scrap of paper on the ground. Walt wanted his parks to be the exception to the dirty, trashy carnival parks that existed in his time and instead provide a clean environment guests could enjoy. Now the CM's responsible for picking up after the dirty masses are understaffed and overwhelmed. The guests treat Disney like they treat their home streets, throw refuse on the ground and let it be someone elses problem to worry about. Maybe Disney should have roving trash cops that fine litterbugs???

Absolutely hate people like that, they have no concept of society whatsoever and are everywhere unfortunately. A few years back in England I was walking along and a car pulled up at a set of red traffic lights near me. Anyway this lady (I use that term loosely) stopped her car at the lights and threw her McDonalds rubbish out of her car window and onto the pavement (sidewalk?) as she waited for them to turn green. Straight away (well after first assessing how well I'd come out if it became physical) I asked her what she was playing at. I got a two word reply which I can't repeat on here so I picked it up off the floor and threw it back through the still open car window so it landed on her. To say she wasn't best pleased was an understatement however she didn't throw it back out again.

Whilst in hindsight it may not have been the smartest thing in the world for me to do, I firmly believe that if more people reacted to these slobs that there'd be less of them about. They really, really make my blood boil

some people just lack common sense & decency nowadays. we always pick up after ourselves unless someone took a tray from us. it's just rude & gross to throw your trash around. glad I was raised differently.

Would love to do this...but sadly, would most likely get shot in our town.

Yup, just a bunch of pigs out there alot of days. Just like the person who left the dirty diaper (wide open, not even folded over) in the entryway to Haunted Mansion last month...

Don't even get me started on the time I saw a DIAPER that someone just left on a QS table...

I absolutely hate that mentality.

Disney isn't that expensive, so people acting like they have carte blanche to do whatever need to wake up.

Wait....what???

People do act in despicable ways that is certainly disappointing to witness but...the statement "Disney isn't expensive" makes me shake my head and wonder where I went wrong in life...because to me it is a pretty hefty pricetag.

Great minds do indeed think alike. See post number 11 in this thread:

While I agree that no one should be so disrespectful as to be throwing trash anywhere but in the trash can, I cannot understand the comment that Disney isn't that expensive. It takes us 2-3 years to save for each trip. I'm happy for you if you can afford something but not all of us are so lucky.

We have had a different year where we went last August and are returning in June. Our planned trip was 2015 for our 20 year anniversary. The 2014 trip only happened because my father passed away and after 4 rough years with his health I needed to take my family away. It was a surprise for my kids the morning we left and all about the kids. The only way we could pay for it was from inheritance from my dad. Needless to say I would rather have my dad.

That being said I cannot imagine throwing my trash anywhere but in a trash can. I guarantee my children would make comment to me if they saw someone drop trash on the ground. That is because we have taught them the right thing to do. Too often we don't teach our kids how to act and it all flows down hill.

It's all perspective. For 2 people, I spent over $10k to go to Tokyo and another $8k to go to the Caymans for 5 days. Even New York will be quite expensive for dinners, shows, hotel, etc. Any of the 3 places I mentioned are expensive to fly, stay, eat, and entertain.

Disney is still a great value for all the entertainment at your fingertips. I can do Disney for under $5k for 8-9 days if I don't go all out on hotel.

And, a night at a pro sports event- average to good seat, meal at arena/stadium/ballpark restaurant, a round of drinks in-game and snack for a family of four in Cleveland is about $250-500, depending on team and seat. For that you get three hours to four hours. I'll take Disney!

Of course, for a lot of folks, about Disney on the internet in forums is free and obviously a great entertainment value!:p

Agreed. I too have made the sports argument. I can easily pay $1,000 just to see my local NFL team play...including $60 to park and it's over in 3 hours. We probably lose BTW just for good measure.

The laziness and inconsiderate nature isn't divided by economic status. Its a social problem throughout the class structure in this country. We as a community have forgotten the art of holding yourself accountable...."I paid that much for a Mickey ice cream bar, I can throw the wrapper anywhere I feel"...no, you can't should be the appropriate response from Disney's staff (though you fray the lines of positive guest relations by verbally reprimanding the guest), just as they point out people not smoke anywhere outside a designated area.
As for Disney being over/under expensive, that's all a Matter of the person buying the ticket. I work a 48 hours a week and don't always have the money I wish and some weeks are tighter than others... So I don't spend thousands on a trip. We don't buy souvenirs or have kids to spend money on. And we make a Disney run 4 to 5 times a year. Its a value to us, compared to any other vacations because Just being in the parks makes us forget the washing machine is dying or my car has an oil leak...it's a release if only for a couple days. We love New Orleans or going on a cruise every couple of years, but Disney has always been a place the wife and I escape to.
That said, I throw away my trash regardless if I'm main street or bourbon street, or a ship deck
