Peeps on SSE! Soft openings!

:brick:

Seas: Sea Cabs were closed down, God forbid they throw some money at it and get guests back to that pavillion.

MILF: Again, why not put something that is ENTERTAINING in place of a "Seasonal" Attraction/ Photospot

Mission: Space: The technology in this ride is amazing and no one appreciates it....pity....not due to budget cuts.

Toy Story Mania: The technology in here is pretty cool too, but I'm not a fan of the concept (already have Buzz)...screen usage here is not due to budget cuts

Everest: Let's not forget the $100 million dollar mountain they just built

Spaceship Earth: The intent of the refurb designers/Siemens is for you to create/build your future, that's the theme of the ride, that we as individuals can shape the future. You are supposed to be focused on the screen...it's a nice screen I might add. Also, the descent is not complete IMO. The new score is amazing! You just can execute the new storyline effectively (shape your own future) with 3D sets and AA's. That's for the ascent.

Well said!

I'm not a germaphobe...but I'm kinda turned off by the thought of touching a screen that's been touched by a bunch of snotty little little kids (or grown kids) fingers. Hmm. Then again, Horizons had the touch "bar" in each vehicle and it never bothered me. I wonder if SSE will have a new rotation position for wiping off the screens. I hope they disinfect the screens after closing each night.

Hey, on second thought, maybe I am a germaphobe!! Admitting the problem is the first step to recovery, right? ;)

Well, I am a germaphobe, and everything in Disney bothers me, but that's what hand sanitizer and sinks are for.

Oh, and kids touch EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING:hurl:

As for the descent - conflicting news. 2 reports have said there are lighting fx there, with more installations visible but turned off. Disneychick1984 says there is nothing. Which is it?

Yeah, there are lighting effects throughout the entire descent. It would seem that most of them are not on, you can see the fixtures and stuff, but they're not doing anything. Once again, the area with the classroom and the news screen is now filled with a 3-D grid of blue lights, the next scene is just about the exact same starscape as it was before, with all of the lightning and such. There are a couple of subtle differences. The next scene that had been various people communicating with each other (doctor and pregnant lady, etc.) is just covered with a starfield, and it is all starfield-type stuff the rest of the way down. This is all where it's looks like a lot of stuff is not on yet. It looks like there is similar lighting effects in the ascent tunnel that aren't on yet, either.

I like the sound of all that pretty well, sort of like before just extended and more of it. What about the glitter future city set? Is that a starfield now too?

what did you think of the music ImagineerMMC? if it was playing.

The music is awesome, without a doubt! I had trouble paying attention to it with so much going on, and there may have been sections where it wasn't on, like someone else mentioned. But it is definitely a worthy successor. I don't know if I'll end up liking it better or worse than what come before. It's hard to say with so much sentimental value attached to the old music.

I think the only thing I'll really miss is Jeremy Irons saying..."Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time. And for a brief moment, we have been among its many passengers."

I'm such a nerd.

I heard they got rid of the old nude statue because they found a sinkhole under her.

Only acceptable explanation for inexplicably scrapping something, right? ;)

ETA: yeti--I'm told they're preserving the old paper boy down in the fruit cellar...

Your not the only one...I just loved it too. I makes you feel at home.

As for the update. Thanks:wave:
Hope to see it soon...

just saw Merf and no ride yet

I'm down for MouseFest and stopped by to see what was happening at SSE. Does not look like yesterday's events have repeated themselves today. Merf has things well in hand and if there are any rides tonight he is "well positioned" to know about them.

I keep refreshing this page with my car keys in hand hoping that someone says its open. I know I should be down there waiting out just in case but I've been up since 4am and can't really see myself in Epcot tonight no matter how much I love it.

BUT... if there is an opening and if I am still awake, I may be willing to take the drive over there even though I am a bit put off by it not being ready. I rode M:S when it was still walled off and loved it but that was a new ride. This is a reworking of a classic. I'm nervous about not loving it the first time around.

Somebody hold me.
