Remember that Wunderground is a network of official and unofficial weather stations. Official readings are not usually taken in a townhouse neighborhood. ;) But a source told me they saw 98F with a heat index of 113F about an hour ago.

Regardless, it is hot this week, and the usual precautions need to be heeded and followed as much as possible.
Weather.com has reported as high as 112 'feel' in LBV today.

We just need a couple cat 5 hurricanes to keep temps down. Could happen. Would thin the crowds.
Don’t even think that. Hurricanes thrive on warm ocean waters. And if we were to be hit by another major hurricane, after last year, the insurance industry in Florida would likely completely collapse.

One of the working theories of what’s causing this is the extraordinarily high water temperatures in the Gulf and Atlantic. Normally either side will send cooler, moister air across the state which results in afternoon thunderstorms.

Yep this. I also live in the area, Windermere (or windernear to some), about 3.5 miles from Magic Kingdom. This summer is different than the past especially this week. The heat is brutal and can be unrelenting because we aren’t getting the same storm coverage. Yesterday no rain near us at all. Today is shaping up to be the same. My poor AC unit is running all day just to keep the house at 78. I keep hoping for our typical afternoon storms to lower the temp a bit and let my AC catch up, but it doesn’t look great for today either.

Unless we are at Typoon Lagoon we aren’t going outside for anything.
My Dad is in Winter Garden. Today he complained that his pool was too hot. This weekend his A/C broke. Thankfully he was able to get it fixed already. My parents moved to FL in 2005. Lots of hot summers, nothing like this.

yea our AC in our 2012 Highlander broke this week. Luckily we have another vehicle my wife can drive to work and I work from home. But I’m basically homebound when she’s at work since it’s too damn hot to go anywhere in a car with no AC.

30 min on set, 30 min off , repeat, repeat for scheduled shift for characters. That's has to be beyond challenging in 112 degree heat index.
Surely in this level of heat it'd be 15 on/15 off? 30 is too long for most characters in this heat...

The hottest global temperatures have also happened this year.

I hope everyone stays cool, and stays safe! Check on your neighbours, especially the elderly.

I had my roof replaced and the job took 3 days. The guys worked 8-4pm , took a 30 min lunch break by their van and their van never left my driveway during their work time. The 4 guys were covered from head to toe with clothing and hats, sunglasses. They did not even asked me when I offered for them in Spanish for them to use my bathroom if needed. The outside temps were 95 degrees and I'm sure up on the roof was even hotter. Some can withstand high temps .

We’ve been coming for years in August. This has been highly unusual. You wake up and it’s already 80 degrees (usually about 74 at 7 am). It’s sunny all day instead of the usual cumulus clouds billowing up and providing a break in the sun and (usually) some rain toward late afternoon. No rain the last two days. Just sun all day which makes afternoons more oppressive than usual. And because there’s no late afternoon/evening rain, it barely cools down heading into the overnight so…rinse and repeat tomorrow.

The best way I can make anyone not here understand is this: Spaceship Earth actually felt chilly (in a good way) today!

We were at Epcot today, which is easily the easiest park to navigate in the heat. MK tomorrow so we will head out to swim by 1 pm.

Sunsets have been gorgeous, though!

iirc last year a CM posted when feels like hits 110F then it’s 15 on 45 off or something close to that. And they were saying that down time was needed to get their body back to normal before going out again. It’s brutal.

I don't know what Disney does these days. At Universal a heat thermometer gun would actually be brought into the costume to get a reading at times when it was beginning to get questionable. By the end of the set it was known that it was time to make the alteration to time. Someone from health and safety would come out with it to make the call.
