I learned the hard way, went to the gym , locked my wallet and phone in my glove compartment. Not going to do that again to my iPhone .
I went ahead and had my car's windows tinted this week, including a small tint on the windshield, and a second layer on the glass roof, just to help control the temperature inside.

Heat index and temp are not the same thing. It always feels like the surface of the sun in July/August in central FL.
Exactly. Central FL has very little breeze in the summer, the humidity is extremely high and the temperature is in the 90s. It is just the degree of brutal for why particular day. It's either very uncomfortable or unbearable.

I had tint before, just hard to see at night on side windows but helps a lot from not burning up inside.

Seaworld was awful and unbearable yesterday. The water rides were close to 2hrs.
Currently seeing a mass of people in MK but then last hurrah for local kids before going back to school.

We really only go when there are comfortable temperatures, which unfortunately usually means high crowds. Went a few years ago in early September, my god it was hot, and then we got trapped by a hurricane because our flight was cancelled days before the storm even hit.

Question about this: Our trips are often in mid-August, and this year is no exception. Unless I am remembering wrong, it is often mid-to-high 90s with a near-80 dewpoint when we are there. Is this something different? Or is this just warnings that didn't use to happen even though these weather conditions did?
Central Florida has broken a lot of records this Summer for heat and humidity. It has been hotter than anyone is used to, even for Florida.

Also of note, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 2015, with this year being the warmest modern-times year so-far. This is a problem that's likely to get worse in coming years.

We were there(WDW) a week ago.
Drank water and Gatorade, no soda or alcohol.
Spent all day at the parks and survived.
Working outdoors is about common sense.
I worked outdoors for 10+ years in all weather, from a week of -27 degrees to +100 degree days.
Cold weather is all about layers, heat = hydration. Just my opinion.

I understand what the warnings mean. I just don't remember seeing them for previous August trips, even though it looks like the same conditions. Just curious as to what changed.
I’ve lived in Orlando for 20 years now after visiting for many years prior. This year is absolutely different than normal. The actual temperatures are a few degrees higher and strangely the humidity is a little lower which is resulting in these crazy record heat index reports. Rain patterns are also different than normal. Instead of the front that crosses the state every afternoon we are seeing (sometimes very intense) small pop-up storms more often which means most areas don’t get any rain at all. All of this is resulting in most locals just not going outdoors during the day right now unless they have to- it’s simply too hot to do anything.
