I find it strange boys can emulate Jack Sparrow but girls can’t emulate a female pirate? It is ok for boys to get made up as a pirate but not a girl. It is ok to have girls get made up as a Disney princess but not a Disney Female pirate. I see that as not being inclusive or fair to either boys and girls. Any boy or girl should be able to be whatever they want to be and not be held to the past norms where girls do girl things and boy do boy things.

Back on track, I don't think this will be that bad. I would not be surprised if Redd shows up in a new Pirates Disney movie soon.

Worth pointing out that Disney has done so, in a short related to the Jack Sparrow series. Obviously when this was made Disney had not a bit of reservation about the scene.

I remember this, and well that was done what 10-11 years ago. Just like with everything these days, the social climate changed very fast from even 10 years ago.

Disney's handling of this is fine. A Meet'n'Greet with this new personality is great. Let's see where it goes.
Clearly, the next POC movie will work this angle and make this character.

When I think of my daughter's future, I often hope she'll end up just like a money hungry, gun toting, pirate.

So I'm really glad Disneyland is providing someone for my daughter to look up to and pave the way for her.

I mean, as long as she's acting strong, like a man, what else could I hope for?

Once again, the character isn't masculine and strength and ambition are not owned by men. If I had a daughter who grew up to be a ruthless businesswoman who fought for the voices of the crowd, I'd be a proud father.

Owned? No, they are not owned by men, but like it or not, on average women and men really do have different character traits. And just because women on average will be different than men tend to be, doesn't make their particular qualities and traits any less "equal" or vital to the sustainability of the human race.

Humans have been successful so far, BECAUSE there are differences between men and women and both sides are important.

The more people try to force men and women to be exactly the same, or else they think they aren't being EQUAL, the more detrimental it will be to society.

More women choose to be nurses than males. Is that because men aren't being supported enough and encouraged enough to choose to go into that field? No. It's because the job of a nurse requires more of the traits that women tend to possess than males. Is that a blanket rule that applies to everyone? Nope, but it's still generally true.

People just need to deal with that and move on.

She wants to be a wife. This is the patriarchy forcing her into the role of pirate she has no true desire to be.

Even IF you encourage women till you're blue in the face and nurture them until you can't nurture anymore, on average, because NATURE inherently makes most women different than men, women will still make different choices than men. ON AVERAGE.

However, men and women, although different, still have varying degrees of likeness and possess many traits that are similar. So there are plenty of jobs (teaching included) that women and men can both find to be a satisfying career choice. I don't know that exact statistics off hand, but it's easy to see that the younger the kids being taught, the more likely that the teachers will be female. That's because the younger the child, the less "teaching" you do and it becomes more of a nurturing role. If you think women aren't ON AVERAGE better nurturers, then you're ignoring just about 99.9% of the animal kingdom evidence to which humans belong to.

You can throw all the money and time and effort you want into trying to encourage more men to be nurses , and you can do the same to try and encourage more women to be jackhammer operators, but despite all of that, when left up to their own devices to choose, there will be more female nurses and male jackhammer operators.

People deny these things because it doesn't necessarily feel good to think that men are ON AVERAGE better at some things, just like women are ON AVERAGE better at others. People like to think of themselves as this blank slates that can do and make whatever choices in life they want.

But genetics is genetics, it is what it is.

I really don't care one way or the other about Redd.

My objection is to the general agenda now a days regarding females. Females have to be like males and make the same exact choices that males tend to make or there is inequality at play.

This will lead to women being unhappier because they feel compelled to make choices they wouldn't normally make all in the interest of being equal. More women will forgo having children because it's the empowered thing to do. Etc, etc, etc.

Women's roles in the raising of the future generations is vital to the health and well being of society. That will continue to be chipped away at the more these agendas are pushed.
