Do the Chinese take exception to Bart Simpson and friends being yellow ???

For goodness sake - its an animated feature film - Why can't folk just pay their money, watch the film and enjoy it for what it is, NOT what it might be or might not be.

In my experience (limited though it is) the media is mostly to blame for these things. Does anyone actually know anyone who is offended by this film? Or any of you personally offendded by it? The press tend to jump on the bandwagon with these and blow it all up out of proportion and make it into a big deal when it really isn't at all!

If people start marching down the street demanding the withdrawal of the film, then we will know that the article was correct and people really were offended by it.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is.

It would be very hard indeed to know someone offended or be personally offended by a film that has yet to be released.

All this fuss. It really shouldn't be an issue. It's a movie with character's of a certain race, it's essentially a fantasy film - not factual. There were no proper American prince\princesses anyway - that's basically (at least in terminology) a European thing, so it wouldn't suprise me if the Prince were to come to New Orleans (or whereever) from Europe (or whereever).
The characters (I believe) turn into frogs as part of the film, which is part of the story, and therefore interact with other animals.
What was the problem again..
I have all the sympathy in the world for poor representations of any group, if they are indeed being treated poorly, but no-one knows for sure that this will be the case before a film is complete.
The only reason this is an issue is because there aren't many details on the film out, and sensitive folk are making presumptions. I hope in the end people can take an objective look at the film, because I'd hate for a potentially good film to be slated because someone has not given it a fair chance at the oft-chance it may be offensive for the briefest of moments.

Is that okay for me to say?

Everything in that IMDB quote is about a year + old news. The only reason, I think, Disney bent over backwards on this one is because so much is riding on this film for the future of WDFA. And it's better to clear the air of this stuff 3 years before the film comes out then when it is released.

In my opinion it's all attention seeking.
I think it is awful silly to get your knickers all in a bunch over a cartoon!
I don't know about any of you, I got bigger concerns to occupy my time.

The "minority" are white. Whites have ruled by force or by money for centuries. Perhaps "these people" who aren't actually minorities have started to be legitimately upset at being referred to as "these people"?

"WHITE".....I prefer European American.

I am. I'm sick and tired of these minority groups whining about not being represented, but then when they ARE represented, can they finally shut up and quit their whining? Heck no! Then they whine because they think they're being stereotyped or something.

As the old saying goes, damned if we do, damned if we don't. There's no way to make these people happy when they've been walking around with a chip on their shoulder all their lives, determined to find anything and everything to whine about.

I am in a minority group (African American and Panamanian) - I do not agree with the columnist about the statements to the fullest extent. Even more so, I do not appreciate your comments or any other people who agree with what you stated. It is not easy being a minority (especially AA or Latino) in the United States.
