Were staying at pop, is it worth the $118(quoted from the disney website), to upgrade to a prefered room? We wont be spending alot of time in the room, and the view dosnt really matter, but it would be nice to not have to long of a walk to the food court and busses.. is there standard rooms that arnt to far either?

We always stay in the 70's building. Its not far at all. Actually, none of the buildings are that far away. You can cut across parking lots to get to the food court from the 90's building, etc.....

Great. I requested a preferred room for our up coming trip. I thought it would get us the best location, now I fear it may just get us the noisest location! I go Oct 21 thru the 26th, I'll let you know how loud it is and what the extra bucks bought me!

Pop Century isn't THAT big of a resort. I stayed by echo lake (is that what it's called?) last September in the 80's section and I was fine. I wouldn't pay the extra $$

Just my $.02 considering I've stayed at PoP 4x now.

We're staying at Pop for our third time later this month. We've gotten a non-preferred room once and a preferred room once. Our non preferred room was in the 80s section. It was a actually a pretty short walk across the parking lot to the front of the main building--no problem at all and we had a parking lot close by. When we were in a preferred room we were at the very end of the building and didn't seem very close. Worse than that--parking a was way too far away. I won't do a preferred room again there.

NO! It is not worth it. We didn't and were in 70's it was great. The resort isn't as big as some others so no matter where you end up it's a short walk to food court and bus stop. That $ can be easily used on other things. You can always ask at check in to be be as close to lobby as possible w/o paying the extra.

Also, just because you request a room dose not mean you will get it in the section you want. My DW and I have stayed at the Pop twice and had prefered room both times and we never had a problem with the noise.

Don't spend the extra money for a preferred room. We spent $65.60 a night through AAA ordering just the standard room. Three days before our arrival we faxed over our top three requests for our room (though it's NOT a garentee they'll grant your requests, but at least it's a shot.) I asked for a king size bed, around the 50's section..asked for either building A or B, with an Epcot room. We we arrived at Pop (we arrived earily--8am), we were able to get the majority of our requests without any issues.

I pay the extra money. We were out in the 80's one time - and in the summer - it's brutal. We bought a frozen coke at the food court - by the time we got to the room - it was empty. It was that hot, that long of a walk, and we were that thirsty. I swore at that time I would never do it again. I did.....but with a preferred room. Now I won't go back to a non-preferred. I also have a ton of stuff to lug with a now 3 year old. It also paid for the fact that if I needed to run down and get her milk, it was right there.

You know you can rent a mini-fridge and stock it with supplies, right? The added cost would still be a lot less than a preferred room.

we stayed non-preferred in the 50's building. I didn't think that it was far from the food court at all. I would stay there again :)

We have stayed at POP several times, in many areas. As much as I would like to stay as close to the front as possible to save on the walk back to the room, we really have no preffrence as to where we are. Half the fun of staying there is all the theme of the different buildings, the giant icons, the music being played as you walk around, and at the right times just how incredibly quiet it can be for a resort as big as it is.
