Actually, there have been multiple studies that show vaccination significantly reduces transmission rates:

https://www.reuters.com/article/hea...19-vaccine-reduces-transmission-idUSKBN2AJ08J

https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/...nsmission-protect-spread-virus-moderna-pfizer

The UK study showed vaccines reduce the rate of transmission by 86% and the Israeli study showed a reduction of 89.4% in asymptomatic cases and 93.7% in symptomatic cases.
yep, early preliminary studies (not yet peer reviewed) are promising

My kids went back to 5 day a week last Monday 3/22, since then, there have been over 400 kids quarantined, seems like it is spreading like wild flowers here
Soon enough, we may not need the vaccine for kids. At least they are theoretically learning again.

That's not an exaggeration and there were more today I just haven't got the number yet My son drove back to school the first day and had to wait 20 minutes to get in the parking lot he drove in today and half the lot was empty no exaggeration

“We have no doubt that when we reopen up in parks that were closed, or increase capacity, that that we will have some level of social distancing and mask wearing for the remainder of this year. That is our expectation.”

The only ambiguity is was he talking calendar year 2021 or fiscal year that ends Sept 30 (since it was on an investor call that is focused on fiscal year).

It was quite clear he meant CY2022.

For everyone thinking that Disney is going stop mandating masks and social distancing in the parks on an expedited time table, strap in for disappointment.

Disney is not going to be proactive in dropping any of their health and safety requirements. They have taken an overly cautious approach to COVID, as is their right as a private business. They are going to be the LAST hold out and not drop anything until they can be absolutely sure that there is not even a fraction of a chance of any outbreak being tied to their resorts or operations.

Masks are the reality in WDW for 2021 and into 2022. Get used to it.

I disagree.
See how this works.

unfortunately you, and anyone else on these boards, are not the arbiter of truth. Sorry.. it might hurt some people to hear this but it’s true.

While guessing at a time schedule is merely a guess, I agree they will be last. We should stick a pin in those conversations until Busch Gardens and Sea World drop their mandates. They we will know Disney will START considering a mandate change (and even then, likely months later).

Six Flags still has a mandate. We are no where near a change at WDW.

They also know FL wouldn’t care, but the governments in charge literally everywhere else they have Theme Parks might get skittish if they did this in FL and say, “you know what? Theme parks aren’t safe.” It’s not a winning proposal for Disney now or soon.

They can't even iron out nighttime entertainment and the Christmas and Halloween Parties yet. Does any reasonable person think they are even close to loosening mask and social distancing?

Reasonable? No. I do feel for the CMs since people are getting more resistant. And they already were being jerks to CMs.
And It will only increase as more people vaccinate and feel they no longer need to wear masks. Which the science now says fully vaccinated people really don't need to because they don't pass along the virus . Unfortunately the messaging at the top is a mess, as it continues to be conflicting and contradicting.

Masks will be around... until there is proof the current vaccines are long-lasting and effective against current and future mutations. If there isn’t, we will be back to mask wearing in most places. And there are already rumblings by health officials that the current vaccines won’t be effective in 12 months due to the continuing mutation of the virus.
