The Disney Parks Blog has been busy with small news items today! First is a photo update of the Disney Dream under construction in Germany:

Disney Dream Update

Next, we have official comment on new offerings coming to our Downtown Disney, such as D Street, Ridemakerz, and new technology at the AMC:

Urban Pop Culture Meets Disney Product at New Downtown Disney Store

And finally, official confirmation of dates for Summer Nightastic, June 6th - August 14th. The article also mentions "new lighting effects and a new addition" to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and goes on to say that there is much more planned for the celebration.

I'm guessing just firework details. They didn't mention MMM in that article.

They mentioned a fireworks show for the Magic Kingdom, just not a name or details or anything. The wording made it sound to me like their might be more offerings coming.

That's what I get for quickly skimming the article.

Personally, I don't think anything else will be announced. It just doesn't make much sense that they would have a huge press event and hold stuff back.

Maybe it's a tactic to keep the momentum of excitement about the promotion going by announcing more stuff closer to the start date. There could be lots of reasons why. Just seems to me like they wouldn't want to exclude EPCOT and Animal Kingdom from a property-wide promotion like that.

And hopefully that's where the IllumiNations info comes to light. :D

See for something like this, that's only in the summer, I don't think it's wise to hold back exciting information if there is any. Announcing it closer to June makes it hard for people to book trips for it.

I think the new stores coming to Downtown Disney (D Street and Ridemakerz) will both be good additions. I expected that D Street was moving into the old Planet Hollywood store, but I'm really intrigued that Ridemakerz will be going into the old Virgin Megastore, according to this article: http://thedailydisney.com/blog/2010...ores-enhanced-theater-experience-coming-soon/

I can't imagine Ridemakerz taking up the entire building, but I think the store is a really neat concept. One of the bloggers at Allears.net recently had a really good article talking about the store:

Now there is a shocker.:brick: Seems like too much building for such a relatively minor product.

Sheesh

Edit: OK, I actually read the article. Temporary through Fall of 2010. Whew!

I think since we're copying Disneyland stuff, it's about time we got that ESPNZone. :-D
We have a ESPN Club though, which is virtually the same thing. However, I wouldn't be against it considering I like ESPN Club (i've heard Club and Zone have 2 completely different menus also) and having one in DTD would not only fill space, but make it more convenient for me to get there.

what is Ridemakerz store!
IT'S Build -a-Bear for boys. You go in and create a remote control car from different parts to choose from. There's one in Downtown Disney in Anaheim. It took over the Department 56 store. A basic car will run you about $120 so it's a bit pricey but I think guests will love it. This seems to be the trend for Disney shops with Bulld-a-Dino, this, and if that Muppet Whatnot Shop ever comes to life it seems guests souvenirs will all have that personal touch.

Okay, all the stuff from the Nightastic article, we already knew. The thing that's got me wondering is that very last statement. They said...

There’s plenty more planned and we’ll have more details in upcoming weeks but we wanted to tell you what we knew first on The Disney Parks Blog. Check back here for more.

I'm thinking that here's where the Illuminations tag comes in. Either that, or the name for the Fireworks show, but I doubt it because they said there's PLENTY more. So there should be more then one.

Club < Zone. ESPN Zones are bigger, with more and better screens, and all the games, as compared to the ESPN Club. You couldn't fit a Zone into the ESPN Club. The Virgin building really does seem like a good fit for an ESPN Zone. But the DisneyQuest building is probably better.

Better still, I think a sports bar would fit what they're trying (unsuccessfully so far) to do to Pleasure Island as well. An ESPN Zone in the former Manniquens location would allow a giant outdoor screen showing sporting events that might actually put a bit more life into the Island.
