Park DVDs

Hi all,

This is a sad time in my life right now. This time every year, I am go with the folks to WDW for 3 weeks. However this year I could not make it due to University tests here in UK. With my parents calling me everyday rubbing it in, I need to find my Disney fix.

Now I have subscribed to this site and downloaded the videos, I downloaded the vidoes from Orlandorocks.com, I ordered the palnner DVDs. Now my Parents are buying me the Park DVDs fromt he parks for me. You know the ones I mean? Each park has its own DVD showcasing the rides and shows etc, a bit like an extended planner DVD I think.

I was wondering if anyone actually has any of them, and if they are any good. I ask this because a)I need my Disney/Universal fix and b)My girlfriend will be coming with me to WDW for the first time in Decembre, and I want to show her what greatness shes in for (Shes never even left the UK, boy is she in for an amazing surprise!!)

So can anyone give me info about these DVDs and if they are actually any good? Thanks!

There are only 2 DVDs about WDW that I am aware of. I have both of them. The first one would be WDW - Where Magic Lives. This one takes you all around the parks and attractions. It has some really good footage of Illuminations and such. I bought my DVD during the 100 Years of Magic celebration and as a bonus it has the Walt Disney Story on it but I am not sure if its on the current DVDs.

The second DVD would be The Magic Kingdom. In this one Mickey and Minnie take you all around the MK and see alot of the attractions. This one has some extremely good footage of the MK and the attractions throughout the day, it also has a little bit of Spectromagic on it too. Bonus features include a ride around the rails of the MK from 2 different views, front and back (its dissapointing you cant view from side to side. You dont get to see the Indians or anything) A ride down the Rivers of America on the Mark Twain, this time from 4 different views. There is also trivia and facts, a visit to Walt's boyhood town, a ride down Mainstreet USA on the horse drawn trolly and a few other neat things. It would have been nice to include some more things on the DVD such as opening day footage but alas no such luck.

There was one more DVD called The Magic of Christmas at WDW. They ripped this one off the shelves because of the footage of the Osborne Lights. It has the entire display down Residential Street in 5 different views and is very nice. I have no idea if this DVD will be re-released with the new Osborne Lights or if it is gone forevever.

But other than that the other 2 are widely available all over the property are great to watch whenever you need your WDW fill.

You might want to ask your family to make sure the DVDs are compatible with UK players and monitors (if they haven't already done so).

Yeah thanks I checked that, I actually have a American DVD player so it ok.

By the way, they now have a DVD for each of the 4 parks, not just MK anymore. Cant wait to watch them!!! Thanks again

Thankfully most TVs sold over here will show both and the majority of DVD players appear to have handset hacks that will let you play discs from all over the world.

However you are right to make shure people are aware of the different systems.

Last I heard there was a Magic Kingdom (which I have and it is great) and an Animal Kingdom DVD that just came out a few weeks ago. If the others have been released that is great!

Unless they have ripped it off the shelves in the past week or so, I got my copy on 12/24 including the Residential Street version of OSL. This DVD was widely available at the parks and DTD. :xmas:
