Just wondering is there a due date for this or is it just until we finish the concept?

Also in case they didn't see it @DisneyPrincess1993 @tcool123 @TRF just to name a few might like this thread!

It's a bit loose at the moment, but I definitely don't want the concept to be finished. We fine tune the brainstorming that comes out of the thread on the podcast and then the boards create the finished presentation based on the podcast.

I'd like to see you guys start to brainstorm on some specific lands and attractions for this DisneySea/Animal Kingdom crossover. Sounds like a great idea! Like I said once you have more of a focused idea of the concept then we can jump on the podcast to develop it even further.

I think we've discussed having a Mysterious island type land complete with Jules Vere inspired attractions coupled with Discovery Island type walking trails. Maybe even some outdoor activities as well.

A Dinosaur themed land has been discussed - and a Land of the Lost type feel with extinct animals gives off a more adventurous feel that blends into the park. The Excavator has also been talked about being morphed with Raging Spirits

Perhaps some other ideas for lands --- An Amazon Rainforest? And maybe an Egyptian desert? To try and blend the discovery feel with the environmental atmospheres of DAK we could include these sprawling vistas of lands that offer a lot of possibilities for attractions.

I'm thinking off the top of my head so anyone have any other ideas?

You have to keep in mind the limited space you're working with. This isn't really meant to be a "sprawling vistas" kind of project. That's part of why I choose the strawberry fields as the first theme. It forces us to get creative with a limited amount of space. I believe were working with less acres than the original DCA had if I have my facts right...

Maybe a dinosaur themed "mountain" in the center of the park to serve as the park's Journey to the Center of the Earth?

Jules Verne could be the central land, and then everything around it would explore the mythology of various real world locations. Egypt would definitely be a great theme to explore as long as we keep it away from a feel of The Mummy and Indiana Jones.

That would be incredibly cool. Perhaps we could combine the ideas of JttCotE and Lost World. I just want underground dinosaurs :p.

We can still have a volcano as the centerpiece, and maybe both inside and outside show scenes with the dinosaurs.

Jules Verne is an obvious next person to include if were going literature, who else would be an option. Mark Twain is rather enticing for an "American Waterfronts" land or something.

Let's see:

.Jules Verne
.Mark Twain
.Arthur Conan Doyle
.H.G. Wells
.Robert Louis Stevenson
.Dickens
.Dumas
.Lovecraft?
.Poe?
.Herman Melville
.Bradbury
.Asimov
.Jack London
.Dashiell Hammett
.Raymond Chandler

This is literally me throwing names at the wall in terms of what and who I think could work. If we really wanted to, I'm sure we could delve into comics a bit as well (namely Dick Tracy, The Shadow, The Rocketeer.) I don't believe any of those three are owned by DC, but I could be wrong.

Oscar Wilde can add a dark and comedic theme!
I totally thought I put Wilde on that list. Whoops.

Absolutely, though. I'm just not sure if any of his specific stories would work as an attraction. We could absolutely channel essences of Wilde in the park, but I'm not sure it'd be possible to have something bigger than a store or perhaps a show.

I like the literature idea

For a moment I forgot...we are dealing with a very limited space in terms of theme parks. Building off of rides like Mystic Manor...what about a Great Gatsby Mansion trackless dark ride attraction?

Any more ideas for this park concept?

I like the general direction of the AK/Disney SEA crossover - does anyone have anything specifically they want to include in the park?

Here are some notes from the podcast about what we were talking about for the park
(Though disclaimer halfway through I refreshed the page and lost the notes so Tiki or Jokers can fill in anything I miss.)

In the brainstorming the last thing we discussed was trying to make this a literature based park (somewhat inspired by a mix of AK/Disney SEA)
We started talking about the "Main Street" of the part being a old-time London area with Big Ben being the icon of the area.

Attractions
- A Sherlock Holmes attraction in Big Ben
- Dickens Christmas Carol dark ride
- In a closed off space, a 1984 inspired attraction
- The Time Machine
- Shakespeare Midsummer's Night Dream boat ride behind Big Ben
- Hanzel and Gretel attraction

Entertainment and Shops
- Ms Lovett's Meat Pies Shop
- Oliver Twist Walk-Around characters
- and more

Next was a transition to the left of London, across a bridge, to a Paris themed land
- Phantom of the Opera attraction
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame attraction (with the cathedral)
- Around the World in 80 Days
- Probably more I'm forgetting

Next was a waterfront town that acted dueling as a New England Fishing town front as well as Long Island of the 1920s
- Moby Dick attraction
- Nataniel Hawthorne inspired attraction
- Great Gatsby dark ride
- House of Seven Gables restaurant

Next was a Mysterious island type land servicing an attraction inspired by The Lost World and including underground dinosaurs in some capacity. Treasure Island was also mentioned as a possibility. And finally we had an African land with a Tarzan inverted roller coaster as well as a potential tie in with sci-fi. This aspect we didn't really narrow down but it's still on the table for now for everyone to discuss.

So now after the podcast - it comes back to the thread...what do you guys think and what would you like to see at Disneyland's 3rd gate...comment below and discuss!

This park sounds way cool ! :D I love the idea of bringing over a land like Discoveryland or Mysterious Island !

I haven't watched the podcast (yet), but the idea of an attraction based on Around the World in 80 fascinates me. It's been several years since I've read it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but in addition to the adventure bits, I remember that book being pretty humorous. For instance, in America, they take the train east from CA, and on the way a whole giant herd of buffalo comes and halts the train for a long time, and the scene Verne paints of that is pretty amusing. I remember there being other scenes like this, but can't remember exactly what...
But I think the subject would be perfect for a dark ride with Marc Davis-esque visual gags. (Of course, we'd have to be super careful so as to not accidentally be offensive or racist)
I'm thinking a boat ride in the style of Sindbad from Tokyo DisneySea?
I would also place it in London, not Paris, because the book starts and ends in London, and the main character is English.

(also, hello everybody. I've come back to armchair imagineering after a huge break - I used to be on SYWTBAI under the username frontierlandfan. Nice to meet you-)

Oh my god you're back. Great to see you back on the boards.

In terms of Around the World in 80 Days, I suggested Paris only because we already put a ton of rides in London. I just thought it would break it up a bit, though you're absolutely correct. Marc Davis would work perfectly as well.

Great to have you back, and I hope you stick around (I was AdvBlueDude on SYWTBAI, btw.)
