Paranormal Shows

I love Ghost Adventures. Those three guys are awesome.

I think the problem with ghosts unlike most cryptids is that even if they truly did exist you can't really "catch" one and bring it in for scientific study. That's like trying to catch a puff of smoke with a net. But oh well, I still find the subject facinating.

Anything Cryptzoological and Paranormal facinates me.

What! So you are saying that ghost busters couldn't happen! Thats blasphemy! I guess next you are going to tell me Jurassic park couldn't happen either.

Master yoda: those sound bites of the sine waves were very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I watch Ghost Hunters, Paranormal Kids, and now Haunted Collector. I used to watch Paranormal State but don't anymore. I can't stand Ghost Adventures.

I have had enough experiences of my own to know that some of this stuff can be real and I am realistic enough to know that some of it is just people overreacting to something that can be logically explained and is not paranormal. Not every shadow and creak is a ghost. I have also learned a lot about history and science from watching these shows.

I'm fascinated with paranormal films/shows, but don't believe an inch of them (yeah, I know that sounds odd). But to me I love them, and take them as fun entertainment. Kinda like the same thrill you get when boarding a roller coaster. You WANT that scare. You do not believe you are actually going to be "flying", per say, and you know deep down it's all man-made steel & concrete, allowing physics to do the work. But it is still a rush.

That's how I feel about ghost stories. Great fun, not something I'd ever expect to see in real life, but fun nonetheless. I am a big fan of the Paranormal Activity film series. Yet I still hear people say: "Oh, that's so fake." or "That isn't real". And then diss the film(s) because they are fake. No kidding...Sherlock! Of course they are fake. But that's what makes them a fun scare.

So to get back to the point. Am I a fan of paranormal shows/films? Probably one of the biggest fans.
Do I believe in the paranormal? Not at all. (Though I did see some weird stuff at a Liberty Square attraction at MK, but other than that...)

you know i like to investigate. But if i hear something with my ears or maybe see something. I don't quickly say yes that's a ghost. I always try to prove wrong before i can say it's paranormal. If you still can't explain it then look at facts of history of a item or maybe a noise. You will be surprised on what ya find from time to time. There was a lot of paranormal shows that did not make it.

I'm a paranormal investigator with a group here in Georgia and I'm a huge SKEPTIC. I don't believe orbs are anything other than dust/bugs. Rub 2 pieces of tp together and photograph to see all the orbs you can capture.

In my 5 years with this hobby - I have seen 2 full bodied apparitions and have captured various EVP's. BUT I will also say I have spend many a night investigating only to come home empty handed. Most cases turn out to be mold/bad wiring/animals in the walls or attic.

Ghost Adventurers - fun show to watch if you can stand watching Zac Baggins flexing his muscles every 2 seconds. But so untrue, not every place you visit is haunted or has any kind of activity.

Paranormal State - directors log at the end was over annoying. Again, you don't find evidence every place you investigate.

Ghost Hunters is closer to the truth because they hardly find anything EXCEPT what is making the noise/strange lights etc.

I am friends with Chip Coffee and John Zaffis and they have stories that will give you goosebumps for hours. My daughters best friend was on Physic Kids and he tells me stuff that he really had no way of knowing.

In any event, enjoy what you do and don't let anyone take down your group with paranormal drama:wave:

The thing is, people will believe what they want to believe. Some people have their mind set on what they "know" is really out there, and logic or convincing are pretty much a waste of time to some. That's why it's best to just let them keep on believing how they want, and try to engage in as little debate as possible over the big questions such as life after death, etc.

Take this video for instance. When you our I see the alleged "ghost" caught on camera at the gas station, we can conclude easily that it is some sort of small bug/gnat flying close to the lense. But watch some of the people's explanations as to what they "just know" it is. This makes for a good experiment on human behavior. No amount of logic or common sense will turn their beliefs, so why even try? (And mind you, these are adults you are going to see with some of these explanations). :hammer:

^ Now that is really cool. :)

Can you share some pics? Getting a legit snapshot of a full body apparition would be like striking gold in your field (and would put many questions to rest). Could you post some?

I love paranormal shows.... if they're credible. I think way too many of them out there fake evidence, and too many people out there are out to get their 15 minutes of fame by claiming their home is haunted so these people will come "investigate".

I grew up in a very actively haunted house. I lived there for almost my entire life, and I've had way too many experiences in my life to say that ghosts aren't real, but I definitely understand why people watch these shows on TV like "Ghost Hunters" and "Paranormal State" and are skeptical of them.

You know i did a investigation with John Zaffis here in New Orleans at the Mortuary. John is a really nice guy.

Man Chip Coffee, seems like a real nice guy. Me and the wife have not been seeing him on TV lately.

wait wait i have to say this before i leave. You all remember the paranormal show Ghost Lab right?? Well they came to New Orleans and wanted to investigate the Mortuary. http://www.themortuary.net/

So i was one of the ones being chosen to say what type of things happened here at the house. Let's just say they did not show me because during the interview they was trying to tell me what to say. If they don't like it then they will not show it...... Just click on the link. This is the place i work at during the Halloween season.

A picture of the first FBA I encountered, WAS indeed taken by one of our members who is a county sheriff. Others in the area (and not in our group) have seen this woman (our FBA) and was able to tell us her name. I contacted her family and showed them the picture and they showed us one of her taken decades ago that correctly identified our FBA. That being said, the family has the cemetary picture BUT I will contact my group member to get a copy of his pic.

I initially met John two years ago while volunteering for Through The Veil (a paranormal/metaphysical convention here in Atlanta that my friend owns). We investigated a restaurant last year in ATL during the same convention. He could not attend this year as he was still busy with his new show.

Chip lives nearby and is very busy touring the country with his show "Coffee Talk". He also hosts a show that will be on 7/9 called Cebebrity Hauntings (I think thats the name, don't hold me to it - LOL). One part of the show he is investigating with Christopher Atkins and some members of our group :sohappy:

b/t/w - are you thinking about attending Patty's event in September.......Scarefest?

Hey where is this house?

My dad's house is in Portageville, Missouri. I've tried to talk him into letting someone come in to do a formal investigation for YEARS but he won't do it. :( I'm still trying though!!

My mom, my dad, my sister, and I have all seen three different apparitions in the house: 1 man in a white shirt, suspenders, and pants whose legs dissappear before they get to the floor, a woman in a Victorian-era floor-length house dress, and a toddler of about 1-1/2 years in age.
We've seen doors close by themselves, had cabinet doors open by themselves we know were shut after we've left a room, and when I was 19 years old I witnessed right in front of my face my dog's toy be picked up my something unseen and be thrown across the room.
